San Tan Charter vs Scottsdale Christian Academy standouts

On Friday March 19th I attended the 2A Final-4 game of San Tan Charter Roadrunners vs SCA Eagles at Rancho Solano Prep.   Here were some of the varsity standouts of the game in the low scoring battle: SCA 47 San Tan Charter 41 (unofficial stats)   Scottsdale Christian Academy [player_tooltip player_id="973569" first="Garrison" last="Sherman"] Scottsdale Christian Academy (9 pts 5 rebs 1 ast 3 blks) -A long wing scorer has nice above the rim athleticism and can shoot it to the 3pt line. He can get downhill a little but is best off the catch. He is a very good rebounder and protects the rim blocking shots. [player_tooltip player_id="804833" first="Matthew" last="Fan"] Scottsdale Christian Academy (Pictured) (22 pts 2 rebs 2 ast) -A scoring lead guard is the Eagles team leader. He handles the ball a lot for them and can make plays for others but has improved as a scorer and shooter. He has a nice burst to the hole using a good first step. [player_tooltip player_id="959024" first="Ryan" last="Ohlinger"] SCA (9 pts 3 rebs 1 ast 1 stl) -The teams specialist is a pure shooter. He comes off of some elevator action or corner 3’s. He can give a shot fake and do a 1-2 dribble then make some plays. He is definitely best off the catch and each one of his three 3’s were huge in a low scoring game. [player_tooltip player_id="1153390" first="Michael" last="Fan"] SCA (2 pts 4 rebs 2 ast 1 stl 2 blks) -A quick defensive PG is tougher then he looks. He has quick feet and he is strong. He grabs rebounds in traffic and like his brother, he can make good passes to teammates. He can hit the catch-3 and look for him to breakout next season. [player_tooltip player_id="827036" first="Braden" last="Wales"] SCA (2 pts 3 rebs 6 blks) -A strong defensive post player is a high level shot blocker. He is not much of an offensive threat but made an important pick and roll layup down the stretch to win it. He uses his strong base to rebound and tracks the ball well to block or alter shots.   San Tan Charter [player_tooltip player_id="809729" first="Demetrus" last="Johnson II"] San Tan Charter (7 pts 3 rebs 4 asts) -A pure PG is one of the better passers in the AIA. He has a tight handle to get passed his defenders then drops off a dime to a cutter or a big. He can drive and kick and he can make an open 3. He made a tough runner in the lane and is very competitive. He had 4 assists and could of had 8. Willie Fragher SF 6’4 2021 San Tan Charter (9 pts 4 rebs 2 stls 1 blk) -A long athlete can flush it down on the break and hit the mid-range jumper. He is good defender in space and inside. He rebounds well and blocks shots plus collects steals with his quicker hands. TeJai Price SF 6’0 2021 San Tan Charter (9 pts 7 rebs 3 stl 1 blk) -One of the stronger wing forwards in the AIA. He is versatile to play the 2-5 for them in a pinch. He is a little undersized but his strength and power make him difficult to match up with. He can defend a guard then switch over to a post player. He scores primarily all downhill and he was the heart and soul of their team. [player_tooltip player_id="1153399" first="Jaleel" last="Moore"] San Tan Charter (2 asts) -An undersized pure PG is small in stature but is fast with the ball in his hands and is a real play-maker. He uses his jets to get into the lane and can find teammates in traffic. Look for him to take the reigns next season for the Roadrunners.
