A handful of area teams headed to Miami for the Pangos Fantastic 40 event where local products either made some noise or raised their stock. Below are evals of some of the SoCal players who turned in standout performances during our live stream viewing.
Barrington Hargress Barrington Hargress 6'0" | PG Ribet Academy | 2022 , 2022, Cali Rebels – One thing you can always count on with Hargress is he’ll bring a toughness and physicality to the floor that few can match. The 6-foot-1 point guard uses his combination of strength and speed to push the tempo in transition and create scoring opportunities, but also operates well in the half-court setting because he can bully his way into the paint, create space and score, or make a timely pass to an open teammate.
Andrew Meadow, 2023, Desert Storm – This active and athletic wing-forward has put himself on the radar during the pandemic. Meadow is a high energy player on both ends of the floor who thrives as a slasher and finisher who crashes the offensive boards for second chance opportunities. Meadow, at 6-feet-7, has shown flashes of an inside-out scoring skill-set.
Jorge Ochoa Jorge Ochoa 6'8" | PF La Mirada | 2022 , 2022, Belmont Shore – Ochoa has always been a guy who can go out and get you a bucket and nothing has really changed on that front. The La Mirada high school product is wired to score and can do so in a variety of ways at 6-feet-7. Ochoa can stretch the floor to the three-point line, finish through contact inside and has some face-up mid-range game in his arsenal.
Josh Steinberg, 2021, Portola – This crafty scoring guard is garnering tons of interest from Division III and high academic schools across the country. Steinberg is a multi-level scorer who is a consistent threat from three-point range, but can also use the dribble to get into his mid-range jumper and has an effective floater at the 7-to-10 foot range.
