Friday night saw some of the standout performances from the small school ranks:

[player_tooltip player_id="1076412" first="Brady" last="Klotz"], junior, Royal Valley:

The Panthers totally shut down the Jefferson West offense that features a couple of talented big men, winning 52-28. The 6-foot-4 Klotz is important to their success at both ends. He is a tough defender and a workhorse on the boards. He scored nine buckets en route to a game-high 19.

[player_tooltip player_id="1139921" first="Jim" last="Dorsey"], junior, and William Dorsey, freshman, Wellsville:

The Dorseys outscored Anderson County. 6-foot-5 junior Jim continues to be a terror for defenses. He hit four three-pointers and finished with 18. He has scored at least 17 in eight of the last nine contests. Freshman William added 13.

[player_tooltip player_id="889475" first="Dawson" last="Zenger"], senior, Rock Creek:

Zenger scored 18 of his 30 points in the fourth period despite a defense designed to stop him specifically. The Mustangs got by Riley County 67-54, setting up a match with St. Marys. Zenger has now gone over 30 points seven times this year.

Kelton Buettner, senior, Madison:

The Bulldogs brought an end to the Lebo’s season and to the brilliant career of [player_tooltip player_id="1072883" first="Devan" last="McEwen"]. The 6-foot-5 Buettner was just too much inside for the Wolves. He dropped in 14 points in the win Friday. The senior has been a consistent component to the Bulldogs success, scoring double figures in six of the last eight games.

[player_tooltip player_id="1134442" first="Gavin" last="Cornelison"], senior, Frankfort:

Frankfort is making another run at the state playoffs after reaching the 1A quarterfinals last year, and the 6-foot senior guard is their veteran leader. Troy had no way to slow him down Friday as Frankfort won 56-42. Cornelison hit 8-10 from the line and finished with 20.

[player_tooltip player_id="1134440" first="Wyatt" last="Lange"], senior, Clifton-Clyde:

The Eagles got by their league rival Centralia 61-46 on a team effort. The 6-foot-6 Lange was a tough matchup for the smaller Panthers and he finished with 16 points. But three other Eagles scored 11 points apiece.

Keegan Dimler, junior, Hanover:

Hanover has a lot of talented players who share the headlines. Dimler deserves some credit for Friday’s win over Axtell. The 6-foot-2 junior hit three 3-pointers and scored 16 in the 67-46 victory. He’s been good in the playoffs, scoring 15 against Washington County. Three other Wildcats also scored in double figures, led by [player_tooltip player_id="1076414" first="Emmitt" last="Jueneman"]’s 19.

Kael McQueen, senior, Wetmore:

The Cardinals advanced to within a game of state after winning just six games a year ago. The 5-foot-10 senior McQueen has been really good all season, and he was big in Friday’s win over Linn with 15 points.
