<p>Tonight, Iona Prep hosted Game 2 of the Metro Team Sports Brother Stoldt Best of 7 Series against Stepinac. Stepinac held a secure lead throughout the game but later in the 4th quarter Iona Prep was able to cut into the deficit before coming up short. The series moves back to Stepinac with the Crusaders holding a 2-0 lead. Tonight’s standouts included:<br />

[player_tooltip player_id="1045930" first="RJ" last="Greene"] played in attack mode from start to finish. The versatile wing was effective in the paint and from the perimeter, knocking down a couple of three-pointers. He was able to get downhill off of dribble penetration contributing as a scorer and playmaker. RJ was extremely active on the glass tonight collecting 13 rebounds (4 offensive). <br />
<br />
<strong>Johnuel “<em>Boogie</em>” Fland</strong> (pictured) provided a spark off the bench and continued his strong play in the second-half with the start. Although his shot wasn’t falling he found other ways to leave his stamp on the game. He was very active on the defensive end collecting a number of steals and blocks while crashing the defensive boards. His activity helped push the lead forward.<br />

<strong>Issac Gonzalez</strong> pushed the tempo and helped Iona Prep get out and run often. His offensive awareness as a scorer and passer was on full display throughout the game. He was able to draw the defense off of dribble penetration and execute a beautiful drop-off pass. Issac utilizes his speed and quickness on both ends of the court. <br />
<br />
[player_tooltip player_id="1125584" first="Samuel" last="Gibbs"] is an extension of the coach on the court. He has an excellent court presence and an understanding of how to get everyone involved. He was able to effectively use ball screens as a scorer, and passer. Sam stayed poised under pressure and protected the ball throughout the game.<br />
<br />
<strong>Jaylen Pray</strong> didn’t play like a freshman tonight. He came off the bench and battled inside with senior forward [player_tooltip player_id="945516" first="Malcolm" last="Chimezie"]. He has very good defensive fundamentals walling up on Chimezie and making things tough inside. Jaylen uses his strong body to finish through contact and crash the offensive glass. He has tremendous upside.<br />
<br />
[player_tooltip player_id="945516" first="Malcolm" last="Chimezie"] saw double teams most of the night but managed to stay poised. He passed the ball well out of the double but most importantly he was able to pick his scoring opportunities. Malcolm scored on a very quick baseline move and was able to post deep at times. He had a number of blocks as well proving to be a strong presence in the paint. <br />
