SubscribeCincinnati, Ohio — Scoring the basketball was not an issue at Blue Chip City Mayhem this past weekend in Cincinnati and multiple prospects showed they can score at a high level. Below are the top five scorers that I saw in the 12U division in Cincinnati.
Antonio Baymon | Team Teague Evans 2027 | Class of 2027
Baymon was the most dominant scorer in the 12U age group at Blue Chip City Mayhem and was a main reason why his Team Teague Evans team took home the championship this past weekend. He did most of his scoring around the rim as he was stronger than a lot of the players defending him and he used his strength to his advantage. Baymon, who is 5’5, was a threat to score 20 points almost every game as nobody was able to slow him down. Once he develops more of a perimeter game, Baymon is going to be a scary dude to defend.
Brody Denny | Team BNU | Class of 2027
I don’t think that anybody displayed a better pump fake in the 12U division at Blue Chip City Mayhem better than Denny. Denny was getting past defenders all weekend with his go to move and nobody seemed to be able to get a good read on it to slow him down. Denny displayed a nice jumper from mid range which helped Team BNU secure a lot of victories at Blue Chip City Mayhem.
Kaleb Elkins | Team Teague Evans | Class of 2027
Elkins was another talented prospect on the championship Team Teague Evans bunch, playing an important role for them at the Blue Chip City Mayhem. Elkins is a bulky 5’8 prospect that can score it in a variety of ways. The southpaw can shoot it from multiple areas on the floor with his smooth lefty stroke but can also put it on the floor and attack off the dribble. Elkins had multiple games in double figures for Team Teague Evans.
Joey Piening | All H.E.A.R.T Basketball Club | Class of 2027
The ALL H.E.A.R.T Basketball Club did not have the type of weekend they wanted in terms of wins and loses but they left it all out on the court and one of the main bright spots for them was Joey Piening. Piening did whatever it took for his team to try and squeak out a win and his effort was nothing short of spectacular. Piening is a smart player that knows how to get by defenders to score but can also get his teammates involved when needed. He is not shy in confidence and hit a clutch three with under 5 seconds to secure a victory against a talented Team Teague Johnson.
Aiden Woods | Team Teague Johnson | Class of 2027
Woods was easily the best shooter in the 12U division at Blue Chip City Mayhem. Whenever Team Teague Evans needed a shot, Woods was there to answer for them. Woods can get going in a hurry which can be a nightmare for the opposition. On numerous occasions this past weekend, once he hit his first from deep, there were a slew of makes right after that from deep. Woods still needs to hit a growth spurt in order for us to give a proper evaluation of what his future might look like but the good news is that he still has plenty of time for that.
