NEXT Blue Chip City Mayhem – 12U Top Defenders

Cincinnati, OH — Defense wins championships and that was on full display this weekend at Blue Chip City Mayhem. I was impressed with the high level of defense that was played in the sixth grade division this past weekend in Cincinnati. Below are five prospects that really stood out on the defensive end.

Isaiah Hill | Team Teague Johnson | Class of 2027

Hill was the first player that stood out to me from the 12U division at Blue Chip City Mayhem because of his 6’0 build. Hill has long arms to go with his height which is a reason why his upside is through the roof. Hill is still very raw and new to the game but he already is showing good signs to becoming a solid rim protector. This weekend he had numerous blocked shots and displayed good defense without fouling which is always key for a post player.

Jack Kohnen | Chapman Basketball Academy | Class of 2027

The Chapman Basketball Academy is an extremely well coached bunch and puts a major emphasis on defense. Kohnen, who is listed at 5’8 understands what the expectations are on the defensive end from his coaches and does his best to succeed those expectations. Kohnen is one of the more reliable defenders for Chapman and made it difficult for opponents to score over him at Blue Chip City Mayhem because of his height.

Kendrick Martin | Team Teague Evans | Class of 2027

Martin was a crucial role player for the champions of the 12U division, Team Teague Evans. His size and length allows him to defend multiple positions at the 6th grade level and he was asked to guard some of the opposing teams better players all weekend at Blue Chip City Mayhem. Martin is another prospect from the talented Team Teague program to monitor as he gets older.

Markese Peoples | Chicago Demons | Class of 2027

Cleveland was one of the top ball stoppers I saw all weekend at Blue Chip City Mayhem. The Demons organization plays with a ton of energy from top to bottom and Cleveland brought that fire power on the defensive side of the ball. Because of Cleveland’s bulkiness, players were having trouble all weekend going up against Cleveland. Cleveland has a big presence in the low post and limited a lot of baskets around the rim.

Brandon Sharpe | Team Teague Johnson | Class of 2027

Sharpe brought aggressive on ball pressure defense all weekend for Team Teague Johnson during their stay at Blue Chip City Mayhem. Sharpe was constantly applying a lot of pressure on whoever he was guarding. Sharpe knows how to turn his defense into offense as he found himself stealing the ball on multiple occasions and immediately getting out in transition to either score himself or setting up his teammates for an easy bucket.
