That was true at the A-Game Super Shootout as the event was filled with plenty of talented forwards. Here are some of the fantastic forwards from the A-Game Super Shootout.
Ethan Mgbako/ NJ Scholars/ Class of 2026
Mgbako plays in a variety of roles for the NJ Scholars and he put it on full display this weekend. The 6’4 forward has a strong frame, which he uses to create space for himself down low. Mgbako is tough to keep off the glass as he fights for rebounds on both ends of the floor. He is also comfortable facing up and attacking the basket from the perimeter. Mgbako can play either the three or the four spot on offense, which makes him more dangerous as he begins to enter high school.
Ryan Leary/ NY Rising Stars/ Class of 2027
Leary stood out for the Rising Stars as he anchored their defense in the opening day. The 5’10 forward swatted five shots in the opening half as he used his length and timing to put himself in the proper position. Leary was also a big part of the press break as he was able to bring the ball up to take pressure off the guards. He drilled a pair of clutch free throws to seal the victory for the NY Rising Stars in game 1. Leary’s ability to impact the game on the defensive end will only benefit his game moving forward.
Ben Rill/ Team Final (PA)/ Class of 2025
Rill was making plays for Team Final all weekend due to his unique skill set. The 6’5 lefty got things started off with a bang as he thundered down a dunk to open his scoring. Rill has a good release on his jumper and has a nice mid-range game. He moved his feet well on the defensive end and drew contact with consistency around the rim. Rill is a skilled stretch four with the capability of playing on the wing in a pinch.
Zion Redic/ WER1 Future (PA)/ Class of 2027
Redic had a strong weekend at the A-Game Super Shootout as he was tough to contain down low. The 6’1 forward knows how to get open down low and has a nice spin move. Redic has a good touch around the basket and drew contact with consistency over the weekend. He fought for rebounds on both ends of the floor and his motor does not turn off. Redic’s ability to play on both ends will is great for his development as his grassroots career continues.
Nehemiah McMorris/ NY Lightning/ Class of 2025
McMorris had an impactful showing over the weekend as he helped the NY Lightning take home the 8th grade platinum title. The 6’5 forward has a motor that does not turn off and gives everything he has when he steps on the floor. McMorris fought for rebounds on both ends of the floor and altered numerous shots down low due to his combination of size and length. He knows how to create space for himself down low and has a nice touch around the basket. McMorris is just starting to scratch the surface of his potential as he continues to grow his game with the NY Lightning.
