Another group of teams made their reservations for the state playoffs Saturday. Here are some of the top performances from the small schools sub-state finals:

[player_tooltip player_id="1139921" first="Jim" last="Dorsey"], junior, Wellsville:

The 6-foot-5 Dorsey has been consistently great for Wellsville down the stretch. The 6-foot-5 junior knocked down 17 in a tight 68-65 win over Burlington. In sub-state action he had 24 against West Franklin and 18 against Anderson County. Dorsey had at least three 3-pointers in each sub-state game.

Damon Foster, junior, Waverly:

Waverly suffered through some bumps during the regular season, going just 9-9, including some losses to bigger schools. But they rolled through their sub-state without being challenged. Foster scored 21 points in the final over Southern Coffey County, which was matched by fellow junior Lane Bartley.

[player_tooltip player_id="1072881" first="Jayce" last="Korf"], senior, Hugoton:

Hugoton escaped a really tough sub-state by beating Hoisington and Lakin. Korf and fellow senior Sawyer Harper have been great. In the 59-54 win over Lakin, Korf led the way with 17 points. The 6-foot-3 shooting guard can play every position and can really shoot it.

[player_tooltip player_id="1134440" first="Wyatt" last="Lange"], senior, Clifton-Clyde:

The 6-foot-6 senior tossed in 16 against Centralia, then 17 in the sub-state championship win over Frankfort. The big man’s toughness on the glass and ability to block shots will be a problem for opponents at the 1A Div. 1 level.

Kobe McGlothlin, junior, Galena:

Galena tends to be headlined by junior [player_tooltip player_id="1076403" first="Brett" last="Sarwinski"] and sophomore [player_tooltip player_id="1080164" first="Tyler" last="Little"], and rightly so. But McGlothlin is a solid contributor, hitting the glass and providing an option in the offense. The 6-foot-1 junior led the way with 11 points in the 34-33 nail-biter over Riverton.

[player_tooltip player_id="891912" first="Nahcs" last="Wahwassuck"], junior, Royal Valley (pictured):

The Panthers relied on defense to get by Marysville 39-31. Wahwassuck has been consistently great, even though his scoring totals have been down in the playoffs. He followed up his 13 point games against Oskaloosa and Jefferson West with 17 against Marysville. A 6-foot-5 combo guard is going to be real problem for opponents, and particularly one as skilled and athletic as Wahwassuck.
