WPIAL 6A Players to Watch

<p>After the COVID shutdown in western Pennsylvania over the Christmas holiday, many WPIAL teams have been participating in games the last few weeks.  Despite not practicing or competing for three weeks, a good amount of coaches and players stayed in communication through zoom or other online platforms during the stoppage of high school basketball.  We will take an in-depth look at a variety of top players to watch in each classification.  For this article, we begin with the 6A classification...</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <h6>[player_tooltip player_id="991193" first="Devin" last="Carney"], Butler High School</h6> <h6>Junior 6’0" Guard</h6> <h6>- A extremely prolific scorer who can "light it up" in a variety of ways<br /> - Consistently proves to be a team leader<br /> - Wants the ball in his hands to create opportunities for himself and his teammates <br /> - Will continue to be a special player these next two years in the state of Pennsylvania<br /> - Receiving a good amount of division 1 and division 2 interest</h6> <h6> </h6> <h6>[player_tooltip player_id="991084" first="Luke" last="Gensler"], Upper St. Clair High School</h6> <h6>Senior 6’1" Guard</h6> <h6>- A talented shooter who has the ability to score from anywhere on the floor<br /> - He has proven his worth over the last few years at the varsity level<br /> - A high character kid, who shows leadership on and off the court<br /> - Provided the necessary toughness that separates him from many others in the game<br /> - Receiving a variety of college-level interest</h6> <h6> </h6> <h6>[player_tooltip player_id="991215" first="Eli" last="Yofan"], Fox Chapel High School</h6> <h6>Junior 6’2" Guard</h6> <h6>- A high profile scorer who provides the ability to create his own shot<br /> - Runs well on the break and is not shy to "slam one down" in traffic<br /> - A consistent leader who can facilitate to his teammates<br /> - An extremely skilled passer and ball-handler<br /> - Receiving a good amount of college interest on many levels</h6> <h6> </h6> <h6>Matt McDonough, North Allegheny High School</h6> <h6>Junior 6’1" Guard</h6> <h6>- He has developed his game to become a solid scorer on the perimeter<br /> - Does has the ability to "knock down" the mid-range jumper<br /> - A complete team player when it comes to working hard to provide the leadership on the flor<br /> - Can "push the ball" on the break with excellent court vision<br /> - Receiving quality interest at the college level</h6> <p>&nbsp;</p> <h6>Mattix Clement, Butler High School</h6> <h6>Senior 6’2" Guard/Forward</h6> <h6>- Has expanded his court game to a different level<br /> - Instead of just being known as a shooter, he has learned to create more opportunities<br /> - Handles pressure extremely well and provided leadership on the floor<br /> - Definitely is a hard-working kid who continues to work to develop his skills<br /> - Receiving a variety of college opportunities</h6> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>The players above have the ability to have terrific seasons, but there is a great amount of talented student/athletes that deserve coverage moving forward this season.  Look for more articles on our WPIAL 6A Classification performers in the coming months.</p>
