It’s about that time when teams start to heat up and get it rolling hoping to peak at the right time to make a run at state. Last season it seemed as if though the top to teams in 6A stayed hot all season. This year could be different.

Hottest Team

The Westlake Thunder

Westlake has one of the toughest schedule this season. Not just because they play in Region 4 but because they played some good teams in the pre-season. They started the year with a rough game against Lehi that they survived. They smacked Farmington and suffered their 1st and only loss to Corner Canyon back on December 5th. The Thunder has received major contributions from so many. [player_tooltip player_id="933802" first="Hunter" last="Phillips"] was the anchor but due to a torn ACL others have started to step up. Kaleb Fury has been electric, especially in the open floor where he can get up and finish. Keilan Torkornoo has also stepped up in Hunter’s absence. Since the CC loss they have beaten Bingham, Timpanogos, Layton, Alta, Juan Diego, Mountain View and remain undefeated in Region 4. The thing that makes them tough to beat is that they can play any type of game and play defense to shut you down. Hottest team in all of 6A, no doubt.

Hot Team

The Layton Lancers

Starting off the season going 2-5 was not what anyone expected from Layton, especially with one of the best players in the state on the team in [player_tooltip player_id="755612" first="Ethan" last="Potter"]. With a lot of young players on the roster the lancers are learning how to win and, well, give [player_tooltip player_id="755612" first="Ethan" last="Potter"] the ball and get out of the way. The Lancers have won 10 in a row and their biggest win is a huge win against rival Davis. This is a team that is hot and they could make a nice run moving forward.

Heating Up

The Bingham Miners

This is another team that has played everyone and anyone. The Miners set up a challenging schedule. With solid wins against Davis, Cyprus, Brighton and Olympus teh Miners are starting to figur eit out. Sharp shooter Justus Reiser and backcourt mate [player_tooltip player_id="543098" first="Jordan" last="Toscano"] have been solid all year. The Miners have been playing some great defense and they have some solid role players.

Staying Warm

American Fork

Tough solid team that is dangerous, especially with [player_tooltip player_id="1046067" first="Jaxon" last="Kohler"] and [player_tooltip player_id="1046030" first="Jace" last="Chatman"]

Lone Peak

Lone Peak could be a tough out for anyone as [player_tooltip player_id="755613" first="Cameron" last="Brimhall"] and Ethan Copeland on roster.
