Brennan Weller Brennan Weller 6'1" | SG Edwardsville | 2021 State IL (Edwardsville – 2021)
It has been over a year since we have seen Weller and he has improved his game over the last 12 months. Lefty shooting guard has always been known as a sharp shooter with a free and easy stroke. Displayed that hitting three from distance. Much more than just a sniper however as his ball handling has made strides where he sets up his man for shots or drives. Got to the line at a high rate and played with a lot of flair to his game. Finished with 27 points. Should be on the D2 radar.
J’Laun Patterson (Belleville West – 2021)
Patterson is a lengthy 6’2” wing that plays taller than his height with his long arms. Streaky shooter as he made a couple and then a few others didn’t look as pretty. Got on the offensive glass for put backs. Small college prospect had 16 points.
Tommie Williams Tommie Williams 6'3" | SG Belleville West | 2021 State IL (Belleville West – 2021)
It wasn’t his best effort, but the Belleville West shooting guard still managed 11 points recording most of them in the second half. He is a steaky perimeter shooter that only hit one from deep. Was at his best getting a head of steam behind him in the open floor for coast to coast takes.
Conor Enright Conor Enright 6'1" | PG Mundelein | 2021 State IL (Mundelein – 2021)
Enright gave it everything he had for Mundelein as they were without his MVC running mate Ebube. The Drake signee is the ultimate leader at the point guard position. Early on he was setting his guys up, but quickly realized for them to be in this one he would need to score. He did just that by hitting six from beyond the arc along with multiple scoop shots and layups. Many of those came off steals where he took it the other way for buckets. Sits down and gets after it defensively even against taller opponents. Finished with 28 points in the loss.
Trey Baker Trey Baker 5'8" | PG Mundelein | 2021 State IL (Mundelein – 2021)
Baker is such a fun player to watch. The left-handed floor general plays with so much passion and flair for the game. He is a shot maker that loves the step back which he connected on many times as part of his four 3 pointer night. Understands how to create space and set up defenders to get his shot off. Went for 23 points.
Jack Malloy Jack Malloy 6'4" | SF Lake Forest | 2021 State IL (Lake Forest – 2021)
Malloy came up huge for Lake Forest recording 20 points in their win over Mundelein. The stocky combo guard took it right at the defense with his tenacity while also connecting on a couple from deep. His competitiveness jumps off the floor at you.
Walter Mattingly Walter Mattingly 6'6" | SF Deerfield | 2021 State IL (Lake Forest – 2021)
The Hillsdale commit struggled early, but then really found his groove after a pair of and-1s. Did almost all his damage around the hoop. What we really liked about his performance was how well he rebounded with his thin frame. He wasn’t afraid at all going after rebounds aggressively even after he fell hard on his back on one. He had 16 points and double digit boards.
Max Christie Max Christie 6'4" | SG Rolling Meadows | 2021 State #12 Nation IL (Rolling Meadows – 2021)
Christie opened the game up like it was going to be a long range onslaught drilling a pair of threes. The rest of the night the top senior in Illinois and Michigan State signee was very efficient winning off the dribble for euro steps and slick scores. Also made an array of trips to the foul line. After his early shooting the jumper didn’t fall the rest of the game but he got to the charity stripe, was impactful on the boards, and was a factor on the defensive end blocking several shots. Finished with 24 points, 10 rebounds, and 6 blocks.
Stephen Harris Stephen Harris 6'0" | PG Lincoln Way Central | 2021 State IL (Buffalo Grove – 2021)
Harris is a small college prospect with his lack of ideal size, but this point guard plays bigger than his height. Couple strong takes for runners and a nice drive with his off hand. He had 9 points. Worth a look for a small college.
John Poulakidas John Poulakidas 6'6" | SF Nequa Valley | 2021 State #155 Nation IL (Neuqua Valley – 2021)
Poulakidas checks in at #5 in the current PHI 2021 Rankings. The Yale commit showed off what makes him such a highly thought of prospect in the opener as he dropped 28 points against Timothy Christian. He is one of the best scorers in the state and the small forward can get buckets in numerous ways. He has one of the purest jumpers in the state whether it is off the catch or creating on his own. He utilized a fantastic step back off either foot in this contest. You can not leave him open. Off the dribble he is very underrated with his creativity and handles in traffic. Also threw several nice skip passes to keep the defense honest. Defensively he continues to progress his lateral foot speed and contests shots on the perimeter.
Connor Davis Connor Davis 6'4" | SG Nequa Valley | 2021 State IL (Neuqua Valley – 2021)
Davis is your classic junk yard dog jack of all trades wing. He isn’t going wow you athletically, but he brings such tenacity to the floor. His ability to defensive rebound out of his area flying after them stole multiple possessions for his team in their win over Timothy Christian. Offensively he did most of his damage in the paint converting through contact and running in transition for layups. Good passer for a wing that is willing to make the extra pass for a better shot. Went for 12 points, 11 rebounds, and 7 assists.
Zack Davis (Neuqua Valley – 2021)
Davis is a new name that jumped on our radar. The 6’6” power forward displayed touch around the hoop and stretched it out to the corner for a three. He had 7 points.
Josh Harris Josh Harris 6'3" | SG Timothy Christian | 2021 State IL (Timothy Christian – 2021)
Always enjoyed watching this Illinois College commit play. The lefty two guard plays so hard on both ends of the floor. Always around the ball and defensively has a knack for getting in passing lanes. Offensively he is precise with his movements making quick decisions as a passer and has a good shooting stroke from distance as he flicks his wrist seeing them go in from mid-range and three. Scored 17 points.
