Vlad Ciubotaru Vlad Ciubotaru 6'0" | SG Minnetonka | 2022 State MN (5’11 Jr Guard) and Jalen Cain Jalen Cain 6'3" | SF Minnetonka | 2023 State MN (6’3 Soph Wing) of Minnetonka. The Tonka Skippers are young so there are going to be some ups and downs, and last night was a clear up as they knocked off Edina 85-71. Both Ciubotaru and Cain scored 30 in the victory. Ciubotaru is a vastly improved junior who has scored 20 plus four times including 23 in that big win over previously number one ranked Hopkins. For Cain it was a massive “I’m back and ready to roll” type of moment. Cain dealt with injuries in the past year and has come out and played fairly well including 23 versus the Spuds. But last night was a take charge type of game.
Adam Holod Adam Holod 6'1" | SG Wabasha Kellogg | 2021 State MN (6’1 Sr Shooting Guard) of St. Paul Academy. Adam might just be the best senior shooter you don’t now about. He’s a constant competitor that is always looking to explode off a cut, catch, and make a shot at the arc. Last night Adam scored 34 points and Concordia Academy had no answer for him. When he was open the shot went. When Adam had a hand in his face last night he still completed plays.
Jack Janicki Jack Janicki 6'4" | SG White Bear Lake | 2023 State #277 Nation MN (6’4 Soph Shooting Guard) of White Bear Lake. The player of the night was likely the sophomore from WBL. Jack Janicki Jack Janicki 6'4" | SG White Bear Lake | 2023 State #277 Nation MN exploded for 39 points allowing the Bears to beat Stillwater 68-66. He was one make better than Max Shikenjanksi who had 36 points and that was the one score difference in the game. In addition to his 39, Jack also collected nine boards. WBL has played a tough early season schedule and while Jack has been solid, last night was his first explosion.
Mitchel Jaskowiak (6’4 Jr Forward) of Glencoe-Silver Lake. Jaskowiak put 31 points in the book last night and GSL needed every one of them to get an overtime win over New London-Spicer 76-72. Jaskowiak is a top football prospect who just got an offer from USD but the 220 pound athletic forward is so agile that guards and bigs have equal trouble moving with him. Then you add the power and aggressive nature and you got a guy who pushed his team to a big win.
Haydn Stay Haydn Stay 6'4" | PG Princeton | 2022 State MN (6’4 Jr Forward) of Princeton. Stay is a lot like Jaskowiak in that they are the same size, both are top junior football prospects, and both had physical, bruising nights to pus their team to the win on Tuesday. Stay scored 34 points allowing the Tigers to outrace North Branch 93-87. Stay’s double-double numbers included 11 boards, five of which were on the offensive end as North Branch couldn’t bodies on Stay that could stop his path to the ball. Stay also blocked two shots. He is averaging 21 points and ten boards for 5-1 Princeton.
