If you’ve kept up with PHM, you already know about such standouts as Brock Wakefield Brock Wakefield 6'4" | SG South Iron | 2021 State MO and Drenin Dinkins Drenin Dinkins 6'0" | PG South Iron | 2022 State MO of South Iron, Tony Osburn Tony Osburn 6'2" | CG Mound City | 2022 State MO of Mound City and Rafe “Lakeland Buckets” Kalberloh of Lakeland.
Here are some other prospects who have proven to be high-level scorers. Don’t let the enrollment of the school fool you.
Blake Fowler Blake Fowler 5'11" | PG Campbell | 2021 State MO 6’0″ Campbell: The 2021 combo guard recent surpassed the 2,000-point plateau during his stellar career for the Camels, who are currently 17-1 and riding a 17-game winning streak. He is a three-level scorer with deep shooting range and a nice stop-and-pop jumper from the middle area. He can also erupt for big scoring binges in short spurts, as he did on Tuesday in the semifinals of the Bootheel Conference Tournament when he had a 16-point first quarter against South Pemiscot. He can create off the dribble and he can move without the basketball. He recently picked up his first offer from Ottawa University (KS).
Garrett Devault 6’2″ Norwood: The 2021 showcased his scoring chops early when he entered the lineup as a freshman and he hasn’t slowed down yet. By the end of his sophomore year, he had already passed the 1,000-point mark. He has gotten a little taller and a little stronger, which makes him even more difficult to defend. In addition to him knocking down 3-pointers, he will take it to the basket and score inside and get to the free throw line. He just scored a whopping 50 points in a victory over xx last night. He is well on pace to finish his career with more than 2,000 points.
Coen Brown Coen Brown 6'3" | SG Sacred Heart | 2022 State MO 6’2″ Sacred Heart: A very smooth 2022 guard who has been operating under the radar in Sedalia, but he is not unknown to college recruiters as he has already picked up a couple of Division I offers from IUPUI and Tennessee Tech. He is always under control on the dribble and he knows how to get to his spots on the floor to create his own shot. He is an excellent shooter from 3-point range and he can excel offensively with the ball and off the ball. I watched him hit five 3-pointers in a row in a game at Wellington-Napoleon earlier this season.
Lane Dunlap Lane Dunlap 5'10" | CG Golden City | 2021 State MO 5’11″ Golden City: The 2021 was an All-State football player during the fall and he brings that kind of toughness to the basketball court with his relentless attacks on the basket. He’s bringing it strong and he doesn’t mind the contact and he’s an excellent finisher in traffic and at all angles. He will also get his share of free throws because of his playing style. And when he has the 3-point shot working, those games in the high 20’s became high 30’s with a 40-piece mixed in there.
Tanner McDaniel 6’3″ North Andrew: I call him NWMO T-Mac as he is currently the leading scorer in Northwest Missouri at about 25 points a game. The 2021 guard has good size and a high release point on his shot which makes it hard for defenders to contest. And he can shoot it with excellent range. He hit seven 3-pointers in a victory over St. Joe’s Christian last night to give him a new school single-season record of 67 triples. He also has a nice one-dribble move to get into the middle area and has solid athleticism to boot.
Donovan Tullock 6’0″ Crystal City: A 2021 combo guard who has really elevated his game in the past year to reach this bucket-getter status. He is averaging 21 points a game this season which is more than double what he scored last season. He is quick and athletic and a potent offensive player in the open court. He is very difficult for defenders to keep in front when he wants to get downhill as he can score on the drive and with his float game. His perimeter shooting has improved to the point where you just can’t play him for the drive exclusively.
