SCISA: Class 3A Quarterfinals Recap

Prep Hoops took in the SCISA Class 3A Quarterfinals yesterday at the Sumter Civic Center. Lets take a look at the results and some tidbits before diving into all the action right here. 

Porter Gaud defeated Hammond in the opener 61-43. The Cyclones playing its first road game of the season moved to (10-0) on the season under Head Coach John Pearson. Mason Grant Mason Grant 6'4" | SF Porter Gaud | 2021 State SC and Denham Wojcik Denham Wojcik 6'1" | PG Porter Gaud | 2021 State #243 Nation SC a Harvard commitment led the way for the Cyclones. Grant a UNSIGNED Senior with great academics in the classroom finished with 22 points while Wojcik scored 19 points. 

Drew Bobo playing in his last game for the Skyhawks finished with 14 points. Bobo a Power 5 Football recruit is the son of former University of South Carolina Football Coach Mike Bobo who is now on the staff at Auburn. 

Northwood Academy and Cardinal Newman went back and forth all game long before the Chargers pulled away with a 71-65 victory. Cardinal Newman had won the past 2 SCISA State Championships played its last game with Joshua Beadle Joshua Beadle 6'4" | CG Cardinal Newman | 2021 State #118 Nation SC . Beadle a fixture on the Cardinals roster since a 8th grader will play at Clemson next season. Beadle finished with 17 points. Fellow UNSIGNED Senior Silas Christie Silas Christie 6'3" | SF Cardinal Newman | 2021 State SC led the way with 21 points for the Cardinals. Christie was very efficient around the cup all night long with his activity. The Cardinals finished the year at (8-7). 

The Chargers were led by Keyshawn Birch Keyshawn Birch 6'4" | SF Northwood Academy | 2021 State SC , Caleb Houston Caleb Houston 5'11" | PG Northwood Academy | 2021 State SC and Cyrus Birch Cyrus Birch 5'11" | PG Northwood Academy | 2021 State SC . This UNSIGNED Senior trio for Anthony Houston helped the Chargers move to Friday night and semifinals to play rival Porter Gaud. Keyshawn Birch Keyshawn Birch 6'4" | SF Northwood Academy | 2021 State SC came up big time after time for the Chargers on his way to 25 points. Houston who scored over 1,500 career points this year finished with 15 points while point guard Cyrus Birch Cyrus Birch 5'11" | PG Northwood Academy | 2021 State SC scored 12 points. The Chargers move to (9-6) on the year. 

Augusta Christian won on a game winner by freshman Elijah Crawford Elijah Crawford 6'3" | PG Legacy Early College | 2024 State #117 Nation SC to push the Lions past First Baptist 64-61. Crawford led the way with The Lions (13-10) move into the semifinals on Friday night. Crawford the highly confident freshman finished with 17 points while Tray Moseley added 13 points, Johnny O’Keefe 12 points and Luke Wilson chipped in with 8 points and 5 blocks. 

Colin McKenzie Colin McKenzie 6'5" | SG First Baptist | 2022 State SC  led the Hurricanes with 26 points while teammate Adonis Cole Adonis Cole 6'0" | SG First Baptist | 2022 State SC scored 20 points. The Hurricanes finished the season at (11-8). 

The nightcap went down to the wire with Trinity Collegiate holding off a feisty Ben Lippen Falcons 55-52.   Tre McLeod Tre McLeod 6'0" | CG Trinity Collegiate | 2022 SC led a balanced Titans squad with 12 points, Lebron Thomas Lebron Thomas 6'2" | CG Trinity Collegiate | 2022 State SC added 11 points, Bewan Balle Bonza Bewan Balle Bonza 6'1" | PG Trinity Collegiate | 2021 State SC and Griffin Folse Griffin Folse 6'6" | SF Trinity Collegiate | 2022 SC both chipped in with 9 points while Dalon Edwards scored 8 points. The Titans move to (12-4) on the year. 

Ross Hartzog Ross Hartzog 5'10" | PG Ben Lippen | 2021 State SC and Clayton Hunt both scored 20 points for the Falcons. Hartzog a UNSIGNED Senior connected on 6 three pointers tonight. Porter Stanley Porter Stanley 6'8" | PF Ben Lippen | 2021 State SC finished his career with 6 points while Beltran Portugues Huertas Beltran Portugues Huertas 6'1" | SG Ben Lippen | 2021 State SC finished with just 2 points. The Falcons have several UNSIGNED Seniors that played their last game this evening. Ben Lippen finishes the season at (13-7).
