The 2022 NorCal Prep Hoops Rankings are out, and there are a lot of new prospects to shine the light on. Some have been producing all along, but haven’t gotten the exposure needed to be included in the Prep Hoops rankings system. Prep Hoops makes every effort to shine the light on up and coming prospects in Northern California.

[player_tooltip player_id="787641" first="Milos" last="Uzan"] 6’4 Point Guard, Prolific Prep Napa, CA.

Uzan is a transfer from Dessert Oasis HS in Nevada. He holds a national ranking, and is one of the top point guards in California in this 2022 now that he’s at the prep school in Napa, CA. He has all the tools a point guard needs to succeed at the next level.

[player_tooltip player_id="1112742" first="Broyce" last="Batchan Jr"] 6’1 Point Guard, DeAnza HS, El Sobrante, CA.

Batchan Jr is one of the fast rising newcomers to this 2022 Class. He’s an athletic guard who can score in a variety of ways. He’s tough minded, and goes hard at his defenders. He’s most likely a point guard at the next level so he’s been sharpening those skills. His handles are there, his vision, and passing are improved. He’s a tough on ball defender.

[player_tooltip player_id="1134859" first="Ron" last="Jones Jr"] 6’6 Forward/Wing, Oakland Tech HS, Oakland CA.

Jones Jr plays with a chip on his shoulder, he brings intensity, and toughness to the court. His long arms, and solid frame makes him a good defender in the post, and on the wings. He rebounds, and runs the court filling the lanes, sometimes finishing with dunks. He has a good elbow jumper, and has improved his play on the wings.

[player_tooltip player_id="766846" first="Julian" last="Naibose"] 6’5 Forward/Wing, Inderkum HS, Sacramento CA.

Naibose is a long and active wing, who’s still developing his offensive skill set. He’s a good defender, his long wingspan, and lateral movement makes him a good player to use up top on traps. His arms are extended on the perimeter, and he takes away easy passes to the post and the passing lanes.

[player_tooltip player_id="1113041" first="Robert" last="Zemmo"] 6’2 Point Guard, Oakland Tech Oakland CA.

The skilled and athletic guard is fun to watch, he’s capable of playing either guard position right now, but he’s a prospect that can score when he has the ball. His handles are good, his speed and toughness allows him to fearlessly attack the basket in transition, and in the half court. He’s a nonstop on ball defender. He has the speed and quickness to stay with most.

[player_tooltip player_id="766852" first="James" last="Freeman"] 6’4 Forward, Capital Christian HS Sacramento CA.

Freeman is a athlete with plenty of hops, he’s the one that gets the crowd worked up with one of his dunks. He’s a high energy player that works hard on defense, and rebounding. He’s good going up off two in the paint, and running the floor in transition. His offensive production isn’t quite there yet, but works as hard as any player on the court.

[player_tooltip player_id="1116178" first="Dom" last="Girish"] 6’4 combo Guard, Sonoma Valley HS, Sonoma CA.

I don’t like labeling young prospects too early, but the truth is Girish can shoot the ball, and he can shoot from way behind the hs 3pt line. He works well spotting up in the corner for quick release 3’s in the corner, and he’ll drop a deep 3 in transition on the catch and shoot. He can put it on the floor to keep defenders honest.

Demmareya Lewis-Cooper 6’0 Point Guard, Enterprise HS, Redding CA.

Lewis-Cooper is a quality point guard with all the tools to be a next level guard. He has the handles, vision and passing skills that’s needed. He looks to get teammates involved first, whether it’s feeding the post with entry passes, finding shooters spotting up for 3’s in the corner, and wings, or in transition. He regularly breaks down defenders. He’s hard to keep out of the paint. He’s a good on ball defender.

[player_tooltip player_id="1113024" first="Ashton" last="Korth"] 6’4 Guard, Home School, California.

Korth is an intriguing prospect, he’s a capable player who’s effective playing different positions. He has good balance, and plays under control. He sees the court well as a passer, he uses his body well on his way to the basket, and he finishes through contact, with spin moves, and soft touches off the back board. He can hit the mid-range off the dribble. He’s still growing.

[player_tooltip player_id="1113042" first="Rishod" last="Brown"] 6’3 Guard/Wing, Grant HS Sacramento, CA.

Brown is a long slender player with good foot speed, and lateral movement. He can defend on the wings, and in the post with his length. He fills the lanes in transition with good finishes around the rim. He’s a good rebounding guard, and can lead the break on occasion. He moves well slashing, and cutting without the ball. He can be a good defender if he wants to.
