The NCHSAA 3A season has produced a number of standouts with the basketball season underway. Here’s a look at Part I of the 3A standouts in the 2022 class.

[player_tooltip player_id="1032848" first="Jaxon" last="Ellingsworth"] | 6’8 Forward/Center | West Carteret

Ellingsworth is having himself a breakout junior season on the high school stage after turning heads this past spring/summer on the grassroots scene. He’s posting 21.3 ppg, 9.3 rpg and 2.8 bpg as the rim protector and frontcourt presence for West Carteret this season. He’s a mobile prospect that attacks the basket on all three levels and makes plays for others as well.

[player_tooltip player_id="947095" first="Isaiah" last="Tate"] | 6’0 Point Guard | Kings Mountain

Tate has been one of the top scoring juniors at the 3A level at Kings Mountain. He’s a floor general in the class that’s posted 23.3 ppg, 5.6 apg, 2.1 spg and 1.3 rpg as they’re off to a 7-1 start to the season. He’s posted 30+ points three times and 20+ points twice while shooting 54 percent from the field and 43 percent from behind the arc. He’s also dished out 10-assists in two games in 2020-21. USC Upstate has offered him.

[player_tooltip player_id="944989" first="Trey" last="Fields"] | 6’6 Forward/Wing | Cleveland

Fields is one reason the Cleveland Rams are off to a 6-1 start to the 2020-21 season. He’s producing 13.0 ppg, 6.4 rpg, 1.3apg and 1.1 spg, leading the squad in scoring and rebounds while showing off his ability to attack the paint and finish in traffic. He’s shooting 66 percent from the field with a 22-point performance under his belt already this season.

[player_tooltip player_id="577886" first="Dylan" last="Wiggins"] | 6’6 Forward | Cleveland

Wiggins is another big reason the Rams are off to a 6-1 start to the season (4-0) in conference action. He’s another junior prospect that’s done well in the frontcourt. He’s put up 9.0 ppg, 9.7 rpg, 2.1 apg and 1.7 bpg for them as a rim protector and paint presence. He’s racked up three double-doubles already and is a force on the offensive glass with 25 of his 68 total rebounds coming on the offensive end.

[player_tooltip player_id="787668" first="Davis" last="Molnar"] | 6’6 Forward/Wing | Terry Sanford

Molnar has been a strong force in the Terry Sanford rotation as they’re off to a 6-1 start. He’s averaging 18.7 ppg, 10.7 rpg, 6.1 apg, 2.6 spg and 2.0 bpg while shooting 40 percent from behind the arc and 56 percent from the field. He’s posted a triple-double while also recording four double-doubles, showing off his stat-sheet stuffing ways and versatility in the process. He’s a prospect for college coaches to track now with offers from Ole Miss, Elon and Campbell.

[player_tooltip player_id="1118003" first="Mikey" last="Campbell"] | 6’4 Forward/Wing | Westover

Campbell has been a name that’s grown steam over the past few weeks per Scout Clark’s coverage in Fayetteville. Since checking the tape, everything checks out for Campbell, a versatile 6-foot-4 prospect, that can play multiple spots on the floor. He’s an athletic force that can operate off the bounce and make plays in the paint.

[player_tooltip player_id="577864" first="Nolan" last="Hodge"] | 6’5 Wing/Forward | Northern Guilford

Hodge is putting up solid numbers entering his junior season as Northern Guilford is off to a 7-0 start. He’s averaging 20.7 ppg, 5.7 rpg, 2.6 apg, 1.6 spg and 1.0 bpg while shooting 54 percent from the field and 49 percent from behind the arc on the season. He’s made a total of 21 3-pointers already including a season-high six against Morehead in a 27-point outing back on Jan. 22. He’s a college prospect worth tracking with offers already from Old Dominion and Duquesne.

[player_tooltip player_id="848074" first="Chase" last="Lowe"] | 6’5 Guard | Weddington

Lowe is having a strong start to the 2020-21 campaign in the backcourt at Weddington. He’s produced 11.8 ppg, 7.0 rpg, 6.8 apg, 3.5 spg and 1.0 bpg while also managing to show off his ability to make plays for himself and others. He put up a triple-double against Charlotte Catholic with 15 points, 11 assists and 10 rebounds along with four steals. He’s an emerging name to keep an eye on in the class.
