The last couple weeks of the regular season produced quite a few standout performers. Here are some:

[player_tooltip player_id="870161" first="Anthony" last="Arrington"] | Junior | SG | Galloway

To my eyes among the most underrated big-time prospects in the state, there isn’t a glaring weakness to his game that I can detect, his scoring ability is next-level with big-time driving ability and range out to 25 feet, at 6-2 and solid he is forced to and often does guard bigger players with exceptional resilience and schooling, can step out and handle the 1-spot to spell [player_tooltip player_id="677691" first="Quentin" last="Alterman"] and lead you in assists on a given night, is among the top two or three rebounding guards I’ve seen all season, were I a D1 coach sniffing around the Class A ranks I’d have Arrington on speed dial with fruit basket in hand.

[player_tooltip player_id="949916" first="Tony" last="Carpio"] | Junior | PF | Providence Christian

Another unsung prospect whose summer improvement has continued all the way through the regular season, already known for his elite rebounding and rim-protection, the 6-8 Carpio has clearly been in the gym honing his close to the basket repertoire, a series of baby hooks, short jumpers and power moves right through you have made him one of the toughest low post competitors in the ATL-Metro, a sky-rocketing big-man prospect.

[player_tooltip player_id="869583" first="Elijah" last="Tucker"] | Senior | PF | Cherokee

Played perhaps as well as I’ve seen him in a terrific OT game with Milton, has the full array going on offense with a cool 30 points together with his typical adept rim protection and rebounding, quick agile 6-7 athlete he showed off his jump-shooting in the halfcourt set as he used his variety to avoid having to bull to the basket against good size for the Eagles, he’s a great fit for what Xavier forwards have historically done to opponents.

[player_tooltip player_id="1020689" first="Tayden" last="Owens"] | Sophomore | PG | Cherokee

Speed, speed and more speed both with the ball and without is what makes Owens special, as a scoring PG with that kind of control at top speed be it driving, running the break or defending he presents such challenges, has plenty of jump-shooting skill to keep you honest, he took it right to Milton’s celebrated guards and didn’t show any back down, don’t see his under 6-foot height being any deterrent to the types of looks he’ll receive as his star rises.

[player_tooltip player_id="754282" first="Devin" last="McGlockton"] | Senior | SF | South Forsyth

Another high-scoring but seemingly effortless showing from the 6-5 forward in a convincing win on the road at Denmark, his 25 points in tta one came again from a variety of spots and in a variety of ways, he is terrific in the mid-range as he’s plenty quick enough to drive it by you so you have to honor that, if left alone a the arc he can absolutely bury you there too, add to that elite rebounding and shot-blocking and it’s easy to like and easy to see what he’s always talked about as such an underrated gem in the 2021 class.

[player_tooltip player_id="948818" first="Lamariyon" last="Jordan"] | Sophomore | SG | Dacula

There’s just such an ease with how Jordan does his work particularly on the offensive end, his jumper is silky smooth and connects at a high percentage for a young player, in the Falcons exciting win over Buford Jordan was terrific at both ends, he tallied 24 points with five 3s on the night, but his game pushes far closer to the basket as he can get it done from multiple levels, rebounds superbly from the guard spot and can defend 4 spots with his athleticism, truly one of the top 2023’s in the state and one to watch as high major D1 teams come calling.

[player_tooltip player_id="870166" first="Juvon" last="Gamory"] | Junior | PG | Wheeler

Makes winning plays, perhaps not the most-hyped member of a star-studded and championship roster but gets things done at the point, looked poised in their tight home win over Kell in what was a physical and spirited contest, a solid possessor can push pace or run the show in a halfcourt set, edges pass-first as a rule but has plenty of range past the arc to make teams pay.

[player_tooltip player_id="869648" first="Jaylen" last="Harris"] | Senior | SG | Kell

With heralded teammate [player_tooltip player_id="598763" first="Scoot" last="Henderson"] rightfully garnering a lot of attention on and off the floor you have to love the way Harris puts on the hard hat and contributes with a combo of skill and grit, good size at 6-3 allows him to bounce between spots for a Longhorn bunch without a ton of size, he rebounds and defends with the trees when needed and scores from both the perimeter and off the bounce with aplomb in a classic slasher role, like Wheeler’s Gamory is a winning player who every team needs.

[player_tooltip player_id="954051" first="Isaac" last="Jones"] | Sophomore | SG | Marietta

Love the stroke, pure, clean, and quick on the release, looked sharp against Walton getting off the three, can put it on the floor with quickness and create space for the mid-range, at 6-3 can rise over smaller defenders utilizing his nose for the rim and like most wings these days not afraid to get it into the teeth of the D.

[player_tooltip player_id="1045092" first="Wade" last="Kahl"] | Junior | PF | Centennial (pictured above)

Was particularly sharp in the first half against Chattahoochee, continues to make great strides in his all-around game, already a heady defender near the rim and instinctive rebounder at 6-7, his offensive game grows by the week with a variety of jump hooks and short J’s, his ability to play through contact and finish also has shown improvement, this will be a big postseason and summer as this intriguing big man prospect continues his northward rise.
