Noblesville @ Marion – 2/9/2021
Aaron Fine (Noblesville) (2024) – 6’2″ SG: Fine is a young freshman who has provided this team with some solid scoring outputs this season. His 10-point performance was already the fifth double figures total of his freshman season. As a freshman, he is going to make some mistakes, but he played fearless which is something that I love to see from young players. He had one fast-break drive that he went straight at the bigger Blackmon, and he went straight through him and finished at the rim. This young kid has a bright future ahead of him if he continues to work at improving his game.
E.J. Smith E.J. Smith 6'1" | PG Noblesville | 2022 State IN (Noblesville) (2022) – 6’1″ PG: Smith is a quick player who plays a true pass-first point guard position. He is very quick with the ball in his hand, and his first step allows him to get past his defenders. Smith also always seems to have his eyes up, looking for the open man. The touch on some of his passes wasn’t completely there, but it has gotten better with his experience. He also doesn’t hesitate to take the ball to the rim and go through contact. He is an 85% free throw shooter, and he was 6-7 in this one. Smith’s speed and his feel of the game make him a must-watch player for college coaches at all levels.
Luke Almodovar Luke Almodovar 6'2" | SG Noblesville | 2023 State IN (Noblesville) (2023) – 6’3″ SG: Almodovar looked to be the best scoring option on the court for the Millers on Tuesday night. Luke would finish with 15 on 5-11 shooting. He has a nice mid-range jumper and has good ball-handling ability which allows him to create his own shot. He did force some shots at the times, but these are mistakes that you would expect from a young player with the ball in his hands as much as Luke does. Almodovar did get a bad technical foul late in the game. Showing emotion is good for the young player, and he will learn how to show this emotion in a better way. Luke’s major problem, however, has been his inconsistency from game to game. You can never tell whether he will come out and scoring 15-20 or be held to under 5. He will become more consistent with more experience, but the Millers will need him to play well for them to have a shot in the postseason.
Valparaiso @ Crown Point – 2/12/2021
Breece Walls Breece Walls 6'0" | PG Valparaiso | 2022 State IN (Valparaiso) (2022) – 5’10″ PG: Walls is a smaller guard that seems to be the catalyst for the Vikings offense. He started the game with three straight made triples, and he showed that he will pull up from anywhere if he has a little bit of space. He also is able to get the ball to the hole and finish around the rim. On the defense end, he played great man defense and did a good job keeping the ball out of Adzia’s hands. Walls always hustles and works hard which makes him a player that a lot of college coaches will want.
Mason Jones Mason Jones 6'7" | PF Valparaiso | 2023 State IN (Valparaiso) (2023) – 6’6″ PF: Jones is a physical player down low, but he did show that he can be too physical at times picking up 2 offensive fouls. On the offensive end, he had a nice hook shot inside and showed good body control on his drives. He also used his physicality to be incredibly aggressive on the glass on both ends. He is still young, but he has a high ceiling from what I have seen from him.
Drew Adzia Drew Adzia 5'9" | PG Crown Point | 2022 State IN (Crown Point) (2022) – 5’11″ PG: Adzia is a smaller, true point guard who is quick with the ball and loves to get into the lane and look to dish. He is in control of the Bulldogs’ offense, and the game seems to slow down with the ball in his hands. Drew can also knock down shots from the outside. He had 9 points and 4 assists in this loss. If Adzia can continue to improve his scoring ability, he will be a force at the Division 3 level.
A.J. Lux A.J. Lux 6'3" | SG Crown Point | 2023 State IN (Crown Point) (2023) – 6’0″ SG: Lux is a young guard who has a ton of potential. He is a good passer and shows good court awareness. However, the best part of his game is by far his shooting ability. Lux’s three-point shot stroke is off the charts, and he does not miss a shot off of the catch and shoot. He doesn’t quite have the ability to create his own shot just yet, but he has to be one of the best young shooters that I have seen this season. I expect him to continue to improve as well, and he will be a real player to watch in the coming years.
