Week 11 is underway and we have got a big slate of high school hoops going on this week in Indiana. This season is going to be full of uncertainty, but let us dive on in and take a look at some highlights of Friday’s night of hoops.

Trio Shines for Greenwood Christian

The Greenwood Christian trio of [player_tooltip player_id="874136" first="Styles" last="McCorkle"], [player_tooltip player_id="774740" first="Isaiah" last="Davis"], and Blake Shrewmaker have been the playmakers for the Cougars this year, and it continued on Friday night in their 70-56 win over Indianapolis Metropolitan. McCorkle dominated with 21 points and 7 boards in his ninth 20-point performance of the season. Davis added 19 points and 11 boards for his fifth double-double of the season. Shrewmaker added 19 points (a career-high), 3 threes, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, and 3 steals in a career performance. Greenwood Christian has had this production from Davis and McCorkle, but if Shrewmaker can develop himself as a reliable third scoring option, the Cougars may be able to make a run at their third straight Sectional title.

Fishers Upsets #4 Carmel

Fishers got their second top-ten victory in as many days as they beat both Westfield and Carmel. [player_tooltip player_id="769666" first="Jeffrey" last="Simmons"] led all scorers in this one with 16 points. Carmel was led by [player_tooltip player_id="769678" first="Charlie" last="Williams"] with 11. [player_tooltip player_id="769662" first="Peter" last="Suder"] added 10 while [player_tooltip player_id="963940" first="Connor" last="Gioia"] added 8. This one was a back and forth affair down to the very end as after Fishers missed a free throw, Carmel went down and missed a lay-up at the buzzer as Fishers held on for the 35-34 victory. What we now know is that Sectional 8 is going to be a complete toss-up. Carmel, Westfield, Fishers, and Zionsville all sit in the top 11 in the class according to the Sagarin ratings, so Sectional 8 is going to be outstanding. Fishers will look to continue their recent success on Monday at Brownsburg.

Victory Christian Stars Dominate

Victory Christian improved to 18-4 with their win over Illiana Christian thanks to [player_tooltip player_id="874140" first="Flynn" last="Carlson"] and [player_tooltip player_id="870250" first="Lincoln" last="Thomae"]. Carlson dominated inside with 25 points, 12 boards, and 8 blocks. This was a career-high in blocks for Carlson and just his fourth 20-point game of the season. Thomae was hitting from all over with 3 triples and added 33 points in the victory. Thomae also completed his triple-double with 11 rebounds and 12 assists in the win. The 33 points for Thomae is his sixth 30-point game in 10 games, and he recorded his second triple-double of the season. When these two are playing well, they are very tough to beat. Carlson will be playing at Milligan University next season, and Thomae has been on visits to both Milligan and Emory & Henry College.
