Prep Hoops Missouri takes a look at some of the top frontcourt duos around the state. Even during the era of high-volume 3-point shooting, having a pair of forwards who can get it done inside is still very advantageous.

Bryce Taylor and [player_tooltip player_id="985418" first="Gage" last="Wilson"] (NE Cairo): The Bearcats are 21-1 with a pair of tournament championships and have one of the top teams in Class 2 with the 6’6 2021 Taylor and 6’8 2022 Wilson leading the way. They play the high-low set very well. Taylor can also step out and make 3-pointers while Wilson is an excellent shot-blocker. Both are excellent baseball players as well.

[player_tooltip player_id="824124" first="Jalen" last="Hampton"] and Carleton Thomas (University City): An explosive frontcourt tandem for the 15-3 Lions that can score, throw down dunks and crash the offensive boards. Hampton is a 6’7 2021 who averages 18.8 points and 6.3 rebounds a game. Thomas is a 6’5 2022 who averages 11.6 points and 6.5 rebounds.

[player_tooltip player_id="824200" first="Eli" last="Wingert"] and [player_tooltip player_id="984511" first="Ike" last="Ezeogu"] (Blue Springs): The Wildcats are currently 15-4 and have one of the top teams in KC and these two forwards are major cogs in their success. The 6’8 2021 Wingert is averaging 11.4 points and 8.7 rebounds while the 6’6 2022 Ezeogu is a Division l football prospect who averages 14 points and six rebounds while shooting 50 percent from the field.

[player_tooltip player_id="824120" first="Karter" last="Koenig"] and Langdon Kitchen (Westran): The Hornets are currently 17-4 with this strong inside tandem leading the way. Kitchen is a robust 6’6 2023 forward who uses his big body to bull-moose his way inside for buckets. Koenig is a 6’6 2021 who can play with power and finesse. Kitchen is averaging 19 points and 12 rebounds while Koenig averages 13 points and seven rebounds.

[player_tooltip player_id="824191" first="Jason" last="Jones"] and Jarret Nelson (Nixa): The Eagles are one of the best Class 6 teams in the state at 18-3 with a well-balanced group, but the presence of the 6’4 Nelson and 6’6 Jones provide excellent inside production. The 2021 Jones is a skilled high post performer who owns the 15-feet and in area. Nelson is a strong post player who can really score around the basket.

[player_tooltip player_id="984947" first="Nick" last="Wasilewski"] and [player_tooltip player_id="1070095" first="Clayton" last="Ernst"] (Jackson): A talented frontcourt duo in Southeast Missouri that has been together for two seasons. Wasilewski is a 6’6 2022 who plays above the rim, but also has a versatile skill set. The 6’8 Ernst is a 2023 who is a strong shot blocker with solid moves in the post and a nice touch from out to 15 feet.

Zane Gayle and Wyatt Snelson (Galena): A pair of 6’5 2021 forwards who have complimented each other well during Galena’s 14-5 season. The versatile Gayle is averaging 23 points and six rebounds a game while Snelson is a double-double machine who averages 17 points, 11 rebounds and four assists a game.

[player_tooltip player_id="992317" first="Connor" last="Turnbull"]-[player_tooltip player_id="824210" first="Drake" last="Stevenson"] (Fort Zumwalt North): An excellent tandem who has combined with standout guard [player_tooltip player_id="824121" first="KJ" last="Lee"] to lead the Panthers to a 19-2 record. Turnbull is a 6’10 2022 forward who has emerged as a force this season, averaging 14.6 points, 7.2 rebounds and 5.2 blocks. The 6’6 2021 Stevenson is an all-purpose player who wears multiple hats while averaging 13 points and 8.6 rebounds.
