The 2021 season has been full of surprises this season and the CVC is no different. Teams are pulling of upsets with players putting up big numbers in the process. The race for player of the year is heated and should be fun to watch as the season plays out. Here are the top candidates for player of the year in the CVC.

[player_tooltip player_id="933639" first="Ryan" last="Smith"], 6’6 SF/PF Robbinsville 2021

The Ravens are off to a 6-2 start and Smith is a big reason why. The 6’6 lefty knows how to get position down low and can finish through contact. Smith has a nice release on his jumper and has the ability to put the ball on the floor. He fights for rebounds on both ends of the floor and is an underrated passer. Smith has three 20-point games so far this season and should have more as the season progresses.

[player_tooltip player_id="933645" first="Brandon" last="Raba"], 6’2 PG Nottingham 2021

The Northstars are the hottest team in the conference as they have won six straight games with Raba picking up his scoring. The 6’2 guard is averaging 19.5 points per game during the winning streak as he is adept at getting to the basket from the perimeter. Raba has a smooth handle and plays with good court vision in the half court. He has the ability to get hot from distance and makes plays on the defensive end. Raba is playing at a high level and will continue to run the show for Nottingham this season.

Davvonne Wells, 6’3 SG/SF Trenton 2021

The Tornadoes have had a bounce back 2021 season with Wells doing a little bit of everything. The 6’3 wing can get to the rim with consistency and does not mind drawing contact. Wells also has a good release on his jumper and is a solid passer as well. He is a playmaker on the defensive end and has the ability to defend multiple positions. Wells’ versatile game allows Trenton to be a dangerous team in the CVC this season.

[player_tooltip player_id="900304" first="Brandon" last="Pfeifer"], 6’0 SG Allentown 2021

The Redbirds had to replace the graduation of CVC Player of the Year [player_tooltip player_id="926737" first="RJ" last="Weise"] and Pfeifer has done a good job filling his shoes. The 6’0 guard is a sniper from distance with a lightning quick release and an ability to hit triples in bunches. Pfeifer excels at moving off the ball, freeing himself for open jumpers and layups in the half court. He is a good rebounder for a guard and is an underrated defender. Pfeifer is one of the top shooters in the class and his ability to stretch the floor will help Allentown in 2021.

Jack Boufford, 6’4 SF Hamilton West 2021

Boufford has been a scoring machine for the Hornets with five 20-point games already this season. The 6’4 wing has a smooth mid-range game and is a good finisher around the basket. Boufford is also a good shooter from distance as he has a nice shooting form. He fights for rebounds on both ends of the floor and makes plays on the defensive end. Boufford is fresh off a 29-point, 10-rebound and 4-block performance in his last outing and should be in the running for CVC Player of the Year.

[player_tooltip player_id="1045873" first="Keenan" last="Reiss"], 6’1 CG Hightstown 2023

Tyreek Rollins, SG Ewing 2022

Brian Herbert, 6’2 SG Robbinsville 2022

[player_tooltip player_id="900323" first="Donavin" last="Crawford"], 6’3 SG Nottingham 2021

[player_tooltip player_id="901991" first="Dante" last="Weise"], 6’1 PG Allentown 2022

Davontay Hudson, 6’2 SG Trenton 2023
