6A is starting to pick up as many teams are fighting for their RPI lives. Region 4 teams seem to be in control of the top spots regardless of their win loss record because everyone in Region 4 is good. Unless a team completely falls off those teams might control the top spots for some time. Region 1 has a battle on their hands with the two top teams. Region 2 could get interesting in 2nd half of games but is controlled by one team right now. Region 3 is tougher than most might think but there is a battle by the two top teams that could go either way.

#1 Westlake

When many thought Westlake would crumble with the loss of their best big, they have actually responded. Keilan Torkornoo the 6’7 6th man has stepped it up and will likely draw the eyes of some colleges now that he has the stage. Kaleb Fury has really picked it up as well. The bouncy guard has really increased his level of play.

#2 American Fork

The question remains is if we have seen the best of AF, the answer is likely no and that is scary for a lot of teams. [player_tooltip player_id="1046067" first="Jaxon" last="Kohler"] continues to get his and that basically mean a 20 and 10 night. [player_tooltip player_id="1046030" first="Jace" last="Chatman"] is also playing some solid basketball. Should be a wild 2nd round in Region 4.

#3 Lone Peak

Many thought that Lone Peak might have a down year but the Knights refuse to go away. [player_tooltip player_id="755613" first="Cameron" last="Brimhall"] and Ethan Copeland have been lights out. Don’t be surprised if they continue this solid run through the 2nd round.

#4 Skyridge

Skyridge has some great guard play that often-opposing teams have a hard time with. [player_tooltip player_id="961858" first="Parker" last="Christensen"], [player_tooltip player_id="543090" first="Duncan" last="Reid"] and [player_tooltip player_id="967723" first="Nick" last="Holland"] are a tough cover all the way around. Skyridge will be a tough out regardless of what RPI ranking the land in.

#5 Pleasant Grove

PG has some dudes that can play. Starting with [player_tooltip player_id="934025" first="Jordan" last="Ross"] the 2023 PG is legit as is his backcourt mate [player_tooltip player_id="934022" first="Michael" last="Mitton"]. Then you add sharp shooting [player_tooltip player_id="968781" first="Dylan" last="Jones"] and multi-use McCade Adams. This team is good, don’t let their 4 losses fool you, they come to their region opponents only. [player_tooltip player_id="933800" first="Isaac" last="Vaha"] is crafty and a smart payer inside and out.

#6 Corner Canyon

Corner Canyon has run into some trouble in region play, but they are not the only ones. Their two headed scoring monsters in [player_tooltip player_id="755623" first="Trace" last="Ross"] and [player_tooltip player_id="755629" first="Carter" last="Welling"] remains intact. The rest of their role players could go off at any moment. Players like [player_tooltip player_id="934040" first="Max" last="Toombs"], [player_tooltip player_id="933814" first="Peyton" last="Call"] and [player_tooltip player_id="967703" first="Tate" last="Staley"]. Corner is tough and excited to see what adjustments we see from them in the 2nd half of play in Region 4.

#7 Bingham

Is Bingham’s tough pre-season schedule paying off, well we will find out as they play another tough Region 3 opponent today. Bingham is getting a lot out of Justus Reiser the BYU Baseball signee is really lighting it up from deep. [player_tooltip player_id="543098" first="Jordan" last="Toscano"] is mid-ranging teams and they are getting great contributions from [player_tooltip player_id="968083" first="Devin" last="Carlson"] as well.

#8 Layton

The Layton Lancers have been playing a different brand of basketball as of late. [player_tooltip player_id="755612" first="Ethan" last="Potter"] is lights out and one of the best SF in the country. They got off to a rough start going 2-5 but they have rattled off 8 straight. They have been getting great production from freshman [player_tooltip player_id="1057041" first="KJ" last="Miller"] and his other freshman mate Makiah Martin.

#9 Copper Hills

Talk about a team that runs some sets that maximize their players potential. Copper Hills is getting all they can out of 2022 6’6 G [player_tooltip player_id="968093" first="McCoy" last="Langston"] who is averaging 12 PPG from all over the floor. [player_tooltip player_id="755670" first="Carson" last="Butler"] continues to shoot the ball well from outside. 2022 PG [player_tooltip player_id="968091" first="Quincy" last="Hills"] is out there increasing the tempo and creating shots. Copper Hills is a tough team to beat with a lot of pieces.

#10 Davis

Davis is no slouch so don’t let their #10 ranking fool you. They can play and their losses come to team all above them in these rankings. [player_tooltip player_id="934473" first="Rex" last="Sunderland"] is calm and poised in his game and he continues to get better. He is doing it inside and out. When you have players littered all over the floor that can hit from the outside you will be tough to beat. [player_tooltip player_id="968050" first="Colby" last="Simms"] an underrated PG that can really shoot. Looking forward to their Round 2 battle against Layton.
