Coming into this game West Fargo is ranked #1 and West Fargo Sheyenne is ranked #2 in our Power Rankings. West Fargo was 10-0 and West Fargo Sheyenne was12-1. The Mustang’s lone loss on the year coming in was to West Fargo.

Halftime Score – West Fargo 37 West Fargo Sheyenne 44

Final Score – West Fargo 81 West Fargo Sheyenne 87

Made three-pointers: West Fargo = 12 West Fargo Sheyenne = 11

The Mustangs found their revenge today and picked up their 13th consecutive win, which is a school record. Sheyenne had an eye-opening 5 turnovers in the game! The Mustangs won the rebound battle as well. I am hoping these two teams meet up again in the postseason. With the win, the Mustangs will be the new #1 team in ND Class A basketball.

Here are the top players from tonight’s game:

1. [player_tooltip player_id="1124528" first="Gage" last="Anderson"] (2021) |5-10 G| West Fargo Sheyenne – 21 points, two three-pointers, and an impressive 9-10 from the free-throw line. Gage has been on a roll lately. He has ice in his veins when he is at the line and he does nice work taking care of the ball. Gage does a great job running the point and pushing the tempo when there are opportunities. I love his fake-crossover move. He had multiple drives and finishes today that showed off his quickness and elusiveness. Gage had a perfect backdoor cut for a layup. I was impressed when WF made a 3 in the second half and was hoping for a run and Gage answered with a 3-pointer of his own to quiet things down. He is great at changing speeds and keeps the defender off balance. Gage is turning himself into one of the best guards in the EDC.

2. [player_tooltip player_id="1124529" first="Joel" last="Pease"] (2021) |6-5 F| West Fargo – 23 points, two three-pointers, and 1-2 at the line. He was great in the first half carving up the Mustangs zone defense. Joel had a nice offensive rebound put-back basket. He anticipates well on defense. In the second half, he had a steal and a thunderous breakaway 2-handed dunk. I was impressed with his pull-up 1-handed jumpers against the zone. Joel was great at cutting to open areas and finding the soft spot of the zone. His 3-point shot looked consistent and soft today. Joel has been getting better every game and has proven that he is an All-EDC talent.

3. [player_tooltip player_id="1046354" first="Michael" last="Nhial"] (2022) |6-6 F| West Fargo Sheyenne – 19 points, five triples, and 2-4 at the charity stripe. All his points came in the first half. This lefty can really shoot it from beyond the arc. Michael has a great high release that virtually enables him to get his shot off whenever he chooses. He shoots it soft and has great feet. Michael is an awesome athlete.

4. [player_tooltip player_id="812219" first="Carson" last="Hegerle"] (2022) |6-4 G| West Fargo – 17 points, three 3-pointers, and 2-3 from the line. He shot it well today from 3-point land. I love the elevation he gets on his pull-up jumper. He guarded Moni for a while to start the game and held his own against the 6’-10” big man. He was spotting up and hitting wing 3-pointers against the zone. I was impressed with his spin move and physical finish. Carson is great at grabbing and high pointing O-boards. He showed off his athleticism with a cut against the zone and a strong finish. Carson is an explosive athlete.

5. [player_tooltip player_id="750185" first="Jah’Heem" last="Leake"] (2021) |6-8 F| West Fargo Sheyenne – 16 points in the game. He is a special athlete. I liked how he scored in the post early and tested the Packers inside. Jah’Heem has an electric spin-move. He had multiple offensive rebound put backs. He had a highlight-reel block off the backboard when he hustled back on defense. I like how he did not force anything today and took what the defense gave him. Jah’Heem is an impossible matchup for opposing teams.

6. [player_tooltip player_id="812231" first="Brett" last="Limke"] (2022) |6-1 G| West Fargo – 16 points with four three-pointers. He showed off his deep range from 3-point land today. I was impressed with a straight-line drive and finish he had in the first half; he is more explosive than people think. Brett showed off his “shooters touch” with a right-wing 3-pointer in the first half. The ball rolled and bounced around every part of the rim before finally going through the hole. I was impressed with his ability to throw left-handed flick passes on the perimeter around defenders. Brett is an excellent corner 3-point shooter. I like how relaxed and calm he plays the game. Winning or losing he never looks stressed on the floor, a great attribute for a point guard.

7. [player_tooltip player_id="731900" first="Carter" last="Birrenkott"] (2021) |6-5 F| West Fargo – 15 points and 1-1 from the line. All his points came in the second half because he was in foul trouble in the first half. He showed off an impressive turnaround baby-hook shot today. Every time I watch him play, I am more and more impressed with his runner/floater. I have never seen a big man use that shot so effectively. He drooped a couple of dimes to teammates after he caught the ball in the middle of the zone. His mid-range jump shot looked great today. I was impressed with how hard and physical he cuts. Carter is looking like an All-State player this year.

8. [player_tooltip player_id="731876" first="Jacksen" last="Moni"] (2021) |6-10 F| West Fargo Sheyenne – 14 points and 2-3 for the charity stripe. He was impressive rebounding the ball again today. Jacksen does not let the ball come to him, he attacks the ball. He blocks and alters shots on defense. I liked his backdoor pass to Anderson for a layup. He passes with great touch. He was tough inside today and finished well when he got the ball. I leave every game impressed with his feet and how well he moves.

9. [player_tooltip player_id="1124530" first="Ben" last="Manson"] (2021) |6-2 G| West Fargo Sheyenne – 12 points and four triples. Three of his made shots came from the wings and one came from the corner. Ben is great at spotting up and drifting to the open spot. He has an effortless shot and never has a bad miss.

10. [player_tooltip player_id="1124534" first="Dominic" last="Dosmann"] (2022) |6-8 F| West Fargo Sheyenne – 5 points and 1 for 3 at the line. All his points came in the second half. Dominic is relentless on the offensive boards. He grabbed an O-board early in the game and continued to do it all game. I was impressed by his high-low dump down pass. Dominic has a ton of upside to his game.
