Here are some of the top performances in the area from Jan. 18:

Lafe Blevins, senior, Doniphan West:

Despite going down 59-42 to Clifton-Clyde, the performance of Blevins is worth noting. He scored nearly half the Mustangs’ points. He hit four 3-pointers, went 2-2 from the line and finished with 20, his season high. Blevins has scored in double figures in six games this season, and is a consistent three-point threat.

Presley Bowers, junior, Centralia:

Bowers was turning in some impressive performances for the Panthers before missing a couple of games due to injury. Bowers returned with a vengeance Tuesday with 17 points in knocking off Onaga. The 6-foot-2 Bowers isn’t needed to lead every night, but he has games of 14 and 12 already in the books.

[player_tooltip player_id="1080171" first="Cameron" last="Carr"], sophomore, Manhattan:

The 6-foot sophomore is a player on the rise in the Centennial League. The son of a former NBA player, Carr has raised his game lately against top-quality competition. He knocked down three 3-pointers Tuesday for 15 points in a win over McPherson. He recently had 18 against Junction City and 14 against Topeka West.

Blake Hynek, senior, Hanover:

The Wildcats are loaded and ranked #3 in 1A Division II. Any one of a number of players might step up on any night, but more often than not lately, it’s been Hynek. The 6-foot-4 senior tossed in 19 in a win over Wetmore Tuesday. He has recently recorded games of 18, 15 and 14.

[player_tooltip player_id="946220" first="Carter" last="Lichtsinn"], Junior, Olathe West (pictured):

The long and athletic junior blitzed Washburn Rural for 21 points in a 62-49 win in the Basehor-Linwood Tournament. The 6-foot-4 Lichtsinn hit two 3-pointers, and his versatile style was too much for the Junior Blues.

Jerrit Norris, sophomore, Troy:

A name that will continue to show up in the highlights, Norris continues to impress for Troy. Against a tough Franklin club, the 6-foot-4 sophomore hit 9-11 from the line and finished with a season high 31. After scoring 11 points and pulling in nearly 10 rebounds per game as a freshman, Norris will be in line for some significant honors following his sophomore campaign.

Andrew Osterhaus, senior, Silver Lake:

Osterhaus is a 5-foot-7 scrapper who has seen his scoring bump recently. After scoring 9 against Wabaunsee and 11 against Riley County, Osterhaus went for 18, including four 3-pointers, in a win over Ottawa.

Aiden Rudolph, senior, Clifton-Clyde:

The well-rounded guard contributes in a lot of ways to the #6 ranked (1A) Eagles. He popped in three 3-pointers against Doniphan West Tuesday to tally 13 points.

Brooks Whaley, senior, Rock Creek:

Regularly overshadowed in the scoring department by fellow senior [player_tooltip player_id="889475" first="Dawson" last="Zenger"], Whaley’s contributions should not be overlooked. The senior dishes out assists, defends, and rebounds at a surprising rate for a 5-foot-9 player. But that shouldn’t be surprising considering the athletic ability the football star brings to the court. Tuesday, Whaley posted a season high 14 against Labette County.
