<p>With the first weeks of the high school season underway, there’s a lot of prospects showing their growth in the state. Here’s a look at some standouts at the NCHSAA 1A level.</p>
<h5>[player_tooltip player_id="1121720" first="Josef" last="Fullwood"] | 6’3 Forward | Pender</h5>
<p>Fullwood has hit the ground running for Pender High in 2020-21. He opened the season with 32 points in a 66-65 victory over Heide Trask, then followed that up with 34 points against Southwest Onslow in a 78-54 victory. He’s shooting59 percent from the field while posting 25.2 ppg, 6.8 rpg, 2.8 apg and 1.6 spg through the first five games of his senior season. He’s got nice length and playmaking ability that he uses well to make things happen on the hardwood. </p>
<h5>[player_tooltip player_id="838056" first="Bennie" last="Brooks"] | 6’3 Wing/Forward | East Carteret</h5>
<p>Brooks is a versatile two-way prospect that’s come along well at East Carteret. He’s averaging 19.0 ppg, 8.0 rpg, 4.5 apg, 4.5 spg and 1.5 bpg while shooting 57 percent from the field through the first three games of the season. He’s been able to show off his three-level scoring ability as well while shooting 38 percent from the 3-point line. He’s an emerging unsigned name that can play multiple spots on the floor.</p>
<h5>[player_tooltip player_id="1006292" first="Troy" last="Fulton"] | 6’3 Shooting Guard | Lincoln Charter </h5>
<p>Fulton is a knockdown sharpshooter that’s filled it up from deep through the first four games for Lincoln Charter. He’s knocked down 19 3-pointers in 2020-21 while shooting 56 percent from 3-point range. He’s averaging 16.0 ppg through the first four contests while also racking up 2.8 steals and 2.3 rpg. He’s an unsigned sharpshooter that puts it in with efficiency on the perimeter. </p>
<h5>[player_tooltip player_id="985975" first="Tyrese" last="Whitley"] | 6’2 Guard | Princeton</h5>
<p>Whitley is an emerging combo guard prospect that’s off to a strong start in the backcourt alongside [player_tooltip player_id="838059" first="Jaheim" last="Taylor"]. He’s posting 16.2 ppg, 5.0 rpg, 2.4 apg and 2.4 spg through their first five games of 2020-21 as theyr’e 5-0. He’s got a knack for taking high-efficiency shots and it’s shown in his shooting percentage from the field (70 percent) and from behind the arc (75 percent). He’s a guard with good decision-making skills that translates to the next level. </p>
<h5>[player_tooltip player_id="1078985" first="Jewell" last="Coston"] | 5’10 Guard | Holmes </h5>
<p>Coston is a wiry guard at 5-foot-10 that gets after it on both ends. He sets the tempo with his ability to grab rebounds and push the ball with pace and intention. He’s averaging 12.3 ppg, 7.3 rpg, 4.3 spg and 4.0 apg through his first three games of 2020-21. He sets the tone with his ability to knock down shots on all three levels and force turnovers on the defensive end. He’s got a ton of skills in his wheelhouse at Holmes.</p>
<h5>[player_tooltip player_id="1113403" first="Marquis" last="Williams"] | 6’5 Forward | Mountain Island Charter</h5>
<p>Williams has played a big role in the frontcourt for Mountain Island Charter this season. He’s producing 17.0 ppg, 7.4 rpg and 3.8 apg at the 4/5 spot for them as they’re off to a 4-1 start. He’s an active force on both ends of the floor rebounding the ball and won’t hesitate to find open teammates for scores. He’s made quite the impression in his senior season.</p>
