This week was full of great games that had lots of great players in them. I saw some exciting prospects and look forward to giving you my evaluations each and every Sunday throughout the season. It is time to recap this week and look at what our exciting prospects did.

Blackhawk Christian: vs Bishop Dwenger 1/26

[player_tooltip player_id="529561" first="Caleb" last="Furst"] – 6’9 2021 PF: Furst was his usual dominate self here. Had 18 points and most of those came from inside 15 ft. Had a few monster slams and was very good about getting to the free-throw line this game. On the defensive end he controlled the post and hardly anybody was able to score down there on him. Just one of those dominant games the powerhouse lefty needed in order to keep his name up for Mr. Basketball. Excited to see what he will be able to do at the B1G level next season.

[player_tooltip player_id="569345" first="Zane" last="Burke"] – 6’2 2021 SG: Burke is a big and strong scoring guard with a high IQ on the floor. Has a real quick release and has the ability to get hot at any moment. Passed up a couple of shots this game and really wasn’t super electric on the offense. Really love how creative he is with the ball and his ability to get to the rim. Recently committed to Saint Francis and I think at the next level you are going to see Burke at his full form.

[player_tooltip player_id="874187" first="Marcus" last="Davidson"] – 6’0 2021 SG: Davidson is a quick combo guard with a tough mindset. Really great shooter and has the type of shot where you think it is always going to go in. Offense was quiet in the first half but in the third quarter was when he started to make some huge shots. Overall, he is probably one of the more consistent players you will find in the state. Has the ability to put up so many points and be a difference maker at the next level.

Bishop Dwenger: vs Blackhawk Christian 1/26

[player_tooltip player_id="874145" first="Brenden" last="Lytle"] – 5’11 2021 PG: Lytle is a shorter lead guard that likes to battle. Plays real quick and can get to the basket at a blink of an eye. Very good at finding his teammates and had a few nice drives where he kicked it out to a teammate for an open three. Has a real quick release on his jumper and very skilled when it comes to getting a shot off, just needs to be more consistent with his makes. Overall, Lytle is a real aggressive type player and has the talent to play. Finished with 7 points and 7 assist.

[player_tooltip player_id="870283" first="Owen" last="Shively"] – 6’4 2022 SF: Shively is a tall and big wing. Mixes up his offense well and is the type of forward that can play the inside-out game. Very good outside shooter with a smooth stroke. He has a great frame to matchup inside with some bigs and pretty much any wings. Looks to be a lot more physical than what he was when we last saw him. Finished with 13 points and looked like he is in for a breakout performance here soon. Keep an eye on him because there is some upside to him being a high level scorer.

[player_tooltip player_id="958411" first="C.J." last="Pieper"] – 6’1 2022 SG: Pieper is a tall SG that plays very aggressive. Can play on the ball but is at his best off the ball because he cuts to the basket and can find the space to get catch-and-shoot off. Athletic and mixes it up so well on the offensive end. He can either be a deep threat or will make strong moves to the basket. Interesting prospect that is bound to take that much needed step forward with his play.

[player_tooltip player_id="1049161" first="Preston" last="Ross"] – 6’5 2023 PF: Ross is a big and tall power forward. Did not have a ton of minutes this game but just by looking at him you can see the potential in this underclassman. Very good stroke and was not afraid to battle down low with Furst. He has got the size and length that will help him compete. By this time next year you should see what all he can do on the floor. Interesting prospect to watch these next 2 years.

Bedford North Lawrence: Jeffersonville 1/29

Ben Cosner – 6’3 2021 W/F: Cosner is a bigger wing that has just gotten better and better this season it feels like. Real confident right now, especially with his outside shot as those have been looking automatic. He is just one of those players that can do a little bit of everything and can find multiples areas to produce. Always have loved his toughness, especially on the defensive end where he can guard pretty much any spot. Finished with 15 points and was the leading scorer for Bedford. Great game from Cosner here and really like what I have been seeing from him lately.

Kooper Staley – 6’2 2021 SG: Staley is a tall and lanky shooting guard that can light it up. Had multiple 3’s this game and was real aggressive with his shot. His defense has always been one of his weaker points because of his slim frame but this game, and others as of late, he has really been playing his hardest on that end and putting in a ton of effort. He is just one of those shooters that can find ways to get his shot off with the littlest of space. His basketball IQ is high and he always seems to know what to do on the offensive end with the ball. Finished with 8 points this game.

[player_tooltip player_id="963945" first="Jackson" last="Miracle"] – 6’5 2021 PF: Miracle is a tall power forward and is the go-to post player for Bedford. He was the ironman of this game, played all minutes, and was real aggressive on the boards. He has that rare big man stamina where he can play a ton of minutes like he did. Struggled just a little on scoring this game but really like what I saw from him on the defensive end. I have always thought he was one of the better passing bigs that I have seen and this game he had some real nice passes that led to some buckets. Miracle has actually had a really good season so far and has really tried to add more to skillset. Needs to add the muscles at the next level but right now he is good.

Colten Leach – 6’1 2023 PG/SG: Leach is a bigger guard that loves to drive to the rim. Kind of in a weird spot as he is not a true lead guard, even though he is on the ball a ton, but he is not really a true shooting guard as well. He has good size and strength and is good enough on defense to usually guard the best player on the other team. His shot selection is still a little off and his turnovers needs to be cleaned up a bit. He gets to the free-throw line a ton so needs to hit those more consistently. I see a lot of upside in Leach and once he cleans up a few things, he has a real chance to be really take his game up a level. Finished with 14 points.

Colton Staggs – 6’1 2023 PG: Staggs is a shorter lead guard with a lot of confidence right now. He is at the top of my list of players that I have been real impressed with recently. In the past he would pass up shots but this season he has really stepped up and made some huge plays for Bedford. His outside shot has been on fire and he is making the right plays with the ball in his hands. His defense has looked solid too as he had a couple of steals this game. He is going to be a player that people will underestimate with his size but will make them rethink that at the end of the game. Next season is where you will really see his game at almost his fullest.

Jeffersonville: Bedford North Lawrence 1/29

[player_tooltip player_id="926885" first="Brandon" last="Rayzer-Moore"] – 6’5 2022 W: Rayzer-Moor is a tall wing with a smooth playing style. Can play a little inside but is at his best outside the arc. Real smooth shooter and his jumper looks good all the way through. Has a long body which helps him a ton on the defensive end. Shot blocking is one of his better skills and he can guard both the post and the perimeter. Just has a real controlled and patient game and will not force anything he does not want to. Need to see a little more from him but has the size and skill to be a factor at the moment.

[player_tooltip player_id="769655" first="Will" last="Lovings-Watts"] – 6’5 2022 SF: Loving-Watts is a big wing that is long and rangy. He was really impressive this game and got pretty much anything he wanted when he attacked the basket. He is so athletic and strong and smart enough to know how to attack through contact and finish. Can mix up his game a little bit and had a nice sequence at the beginning of the game where he drove in for two then splashed a 3 off the catch on the next play. His games does not look as raw as what it did and he is starting to put it all out there. Also throw in his huge where it showed off his insane vertical. Finished with 20 points.

[player_tooltip player_id="870261" first="Kobe" last="Stoudemire"] – 5’9 2022 PG: Stoudemire is a shorter lead guard but is so quick and tough. Very shifty guard but plays at a high level all over the floor. One of the better shooting lead guards I have seen this year as he had 5 3’s this game. Quick trigger on his shot and can really make a defense pay if he is left open. Good defender and has the ability to shut down the point guard. It just seemed like every time Bedford would make a run, he would step up and make a big shot. Overall, really like Stoudemire’s game.
