Tuesday night kicked off the third week of high school basketball action across the state of Nebraska. Two of the games on Tuesday night I noted as games of the week this week and they both lived up to the hype whether it be for coming down to the wire or for an outstanding performance from one of the best prospects on the floor. Let’s dive into the headlines from Tuesday’s action.

Millikan Powers Platteview Past Beatrice

2023 Platteview Guard [player_tooltip player_id="1018738" first="Connor" last="Millikan"] is certainly one of the most intriguing prospects in the state when it comes to the 2023 class. A tough as nails guard, who thrives in the midrange game and getting to the rim, Tuesday night saw Millikan play all 32 minutes of a 70-62 victory for his Platteview Trojans over Beatrice. Millikan finished with 35 points on the night, to go along with 8 rebounds and 5 assists. This came on 13-22 shooting from the field and going 8-11 from the free-throw line. Fellow Trojan [player_tooltip player_id="890549" first="Tyler" last="Riley"] chipped in 17 points in the winning effort. Beatrice guard [player_tooltip player_id="982463" first="Elliot" last="Jurgens"] led the way for the Orangemen with 22 points.

Antlers Escape York in Low Scoring Thriller

Elkhorn traveled to York on Tuesday night and this more than lived up to the intrigue I showed in naming it a game of the week. Even though both teams got off to slow starts, both teams also were playing tough defense throughout which contributed to the low final score. Elkhorn prevailed 43-42 in the end. The Antlers attack is led by a group of multi-sport athletes such as 6’5 Nebraska Baseball commit Drew Christo and 6’5 Northwest Missouri State Football commit Gannon Gragert. Both of them had 6 points on the night while [player_tooltip player_id="958184" first="Colton" last="Uhing"] and Trevor Bills led the Antlers’ balanced scoring effort with 9 points apiece. York was led by their 6’2 senior point guard Jake Erwin who had 16 points, which most notably included shooting 4-6 from 3 point range.

Bellevue West Firing on All Cylinders

The defending Class A state champions took their show on the road to Elkhorn on Tuesday night and their offensive attack appeared to be in top form. Led by Omaha commit [player_tooltip player_id="890468" first="Frankie" last="Fidler"]’s 15 points and Wisconsin commit [player_tooltip player_id="773431" first="Chucky" last="Hepburn"]’s 13 points, Bellevue West also received contributions from some younger guys in their win over Elkhorn South. Most notably 6’3 sophomore guard Jaxon Stueve, who scored all 9 of his points on the night from 3 point range, finishing the night 3-5 from downtown. Elkhorn South senior guard Nate Hoesing finished with 17 points for the Storm.
