With the season fully in swing, some names are becoming quite notable around the Capital City.

[player_tooltip player_id="1072892" first="Isiah" last="Johnson"], senior, Shawnee Heights:

Johnson was a one-man scoring machine against Tonganoxie Friday night. He hit for 7 points in the first quarter. Then he came back with a remarkable 14 points in the third period. He finished with 10 buckets, including five 3-pointers, plus 7-8 from the line, to finish with 32 in the victory.

Harvey Davis, senior, Shawnee Heights:

Davis was his usual steady self, putting in 10 points in the win over Tonganoxie.

Micah Kobuszewski, senior, Seaman:

The sharpshooter finally found the range in the Vikings third game of the season. He hit two 3-pointers and finished with 14 as the Vikings picked up their first win of the year.

[player_tooltip player_id="1080196" first="Kaeden" last="Bonner"], sophomore, Seaman:

Bonner turned in a big first game with 15, then sat the Vikings’ second game with an ankle injury. He played a big role in getting the Vikings their first win with 10 points Friday.

Marque Wilkerson, senior, Topeka West:

Everyone knew [player_tooltip player_id="1070185" first="Tre" last="Alexander"] and [player_tooltip player_id="1076260" first="Elijah" last="Brooks"] would lead the Chargers. But no one knew just how big a role Wilkerson was set to play for Topeka West. He cashed in 18 points against Seaman, then came back Friday with 12 against Topeka High. He is an integral part of everything they do, leading from the point, on the wing or in the high post, their offense is running through him.

Aaron Lira, senior, Topeka West:

A lights-out shooter and senior leader of the Chargers, Lira popped in three 3-pointers Friday to finish with 11 points.

[player_tooltip player_id="889499" first="Isiah" last="Esquibel"], senior, Topeka High:

Esquibel battled injuries and took a back seat to the set of stars the Trojans collected last season. But he showed his ability in Friday’s loss to Topeka West. He takes the ball strong to the basket, runs the point, shoots from the wing – he’ll play a ‘do everything’ role this season. He hit six buckets and finished with 15 Friday.

[player_tooltip player_id="1073376" first="Jalen" last="Smith"], senior, Topeka High (pictured):

The only true ‘returner’ for Topeka High, Smith showed his athleticism and versatility Friday with 10 points.

Jake Muller, junior, Hayden:

The 5-foot-11 junior has a hand in everything for Hayden, playing scrappy defense, handling the ball and playing a scoring threat. He hit for 8 points against Manhattan.

[player_tooltip player_id="1076400" first="Juan’Tario" last="Roberts"], junior, Highland Park:

The Scots won with defense, shutting down Washburn Rural Friday night. The athletic Roberts posed a problem for the Junior Blues at both ends, and of course he showed off his ability to blitz the basket. He finished 5-11 from the field to lead the Scots with 13.
