Top 3 Teams to Watch in 4A

In this article:

Idaho’s second largest classification has a lot of quality players and talent spread across the state. Last season, Preston took home the 4A state championship, but they graduated a lot of their seniors who contributed the majority of their scoring and minutes played, effectively leaving the door open for a new champion to be crowned in March. The 4A teams have been working hard during the offseason and I am very excited to see how the conference tournaments will play out. I have compiled my top 3 teams to watch, but there is talent across the board at any 4A game. Continue reading for a look at my top 3 teams to watch at the 4A level in the state of Idaho in no particular order.

Kuna Kavemen: Kuna will return a large portion of their roster as they look to build upon a state appearance last season. The Kavemen have lots of experience throughout their roster and they will look for leadership from [player_tooltip player_id="969596" first="Cade" last="Randall"], a deadly shooter from deep that has the ability to get hot in a hurry, and [player_tooltip player_id="919669" first="Sean" last="Austin"], a true point guard that can score at will and has excellent court vision. Kuna has a lot of potential for this season and I hope they can build on success from last season.

Middleton Vikings: Middleton was able to finish in third place at the state tournament last season, and I believe they have the talent and ability to reach even further this year. The Vikings return a lot of their starters and bench players with high level game experience. Middleton will look to [player_tooltip player_id="919671" first="Taede" last="Stucki"], a shooting guard with the ability score at all three levels, and [player_tooltip player_id="921074" first="Tyler" last="Medaris"], a 6’7" shooting guard/forward who can rebound and score really well, to lead the way on another quest for the state title.

Moscow Bears: The Bears are one of my favorite sleeper teams this season after losing in the state championship game last season. Many casual onlookers will see the departure of [player_tooltip player_id="923077" first="Blake" last="Buchanan"] as a detriment to Moscow, but the rest of the team will easily fill the gap and come together in a stronger manner. Led by [player_tooltip player_id="917694" first="Benny" last="Kitchel"], a great shooting guard/small forward with a deadly mid-range jumper and the ability to provide leadership and high level game experience, the Bears will attack opponents with a balanced approach as they attempt to get back to the state title game.
