Prep Hoops Missouri takes a look at some of the highlights from Thursday night’s tournament activity around the state.

Potent Trio at Hayti

The tip-seeded Hayti Indians advanced to the championship game of the Gideon Tournament with a 68-62 victory over Clarkton. Hayti features a potent trio of guards in 6’3 2022 Trayvon Thomas, 5’8 2021 [player_tooltip player_id="985221" first="Tyliek" last="Moore"] and 5’8 2021 Quindale Malone. Thomas and Moore finished with 22 points each while Malone added 14 points.

Thomas is an athletic bucket-getter who handles the ball and can score at all three levels. Moore and Malone are quick waterbug guards who can penetrate and knock down 3-pointers. Moore can really put in the points when he gets in a full lather.

Excitement in Mid Missouri

Boonville High 2022 guard Luke Green earned the big hero of the night status on Thursday night. The 6’2 Green swished a 3-pointer at the buzzer to give the Pirates a 62-61 victory over Southern Boone in the semifinals of the Tri-County Tournament at Blair Oaks. Green got the ball with five seconds left and executed two pump fakes before sinking his dramatic game winner.

Boonville’s individual standout of the night was 6’6 2021 forward [player_tooltip player_id="985219" first="Charlie" last="Bronakowski"], who scored 29 points. He is a big strong combo forward who attacked the basket off the dribble and powered his way to inside buckets and offensive rebounds.

[player_tooltip player_id="824124" first="Jalen" last="Hampton"] rampage continues

University High 2021 forward continued his dominant early-season play with a 29 point, 14-rebound performance in the Lions victory at Westminster in a battle of excellent Class 4 teams. The 6’7 Hampton was the MVP of last week’s Borgia Turkey Tourney after leading the Lions to the championship.
