As we finish up with our conference previews, one of the top leagues left to look at is the Corn-Belt Conference! Here is our Corn-Belt article for PHD!

Conference Commentary

Bridgewater-Emery - The season looks promising for the Huskies and they are off to a nice 3-1 start. There is a quality mix of senior and sophomore guards/wings plus if Northern State signed football talent [player_tooltip player_id="975585" first="Tyler" last="Kjetland"] is around - at 6-foot-5 270 pounds - to play inside they will be even rougher. Kjetland was missed when B-E lost to Viborg-Hurley.

Canistota - The Hawks are in a great place to make a run as they are a veteran team with a pair of all league players and a strong senior class. They’ve had a couple blowouts so far this year but a huge game with B-E is in front of them tonight. The 6th ranked team in the state.

Freeman - The Flyers have played five games already, and in four of those five games they failed to reach the 20 point mark for the game. Four 50 plus point losses already means it’s going to be a rough season.

Hanson - Off to a 4-0 start with four blowouts to their resume, the Beavers are one of the teams just outside our top ten and looking in. This is a Class B team with legit size plus three starters returning from a good team. Expectations are high.

Howard - Opened the season with a nice win over Chester Area and have a 3-0 record defending their ranking of 7th in Class B. The Tigers have four starters back from last season’s team including one of the state’s top senior prospects/players in Sam Asleson. Expectations are high.

Irene-Wakonda - The early season schedule has hit the Eagles hard as they played some tough teams early and went 0-4. It shouldn’t be that surprising as Irene-Wakonda is a young team with no seasons on the roster. With the team breaking in new players patience is needed.

Menno - Winless thus far and having a tough time completing possessions. They are coming off a six win season that also started slow until the Wolves found an offensive groove.

Viborg-Hurley - The second ranked team in the state has high expectations. Football may have taken away Chase Mason - ACL injury - but expectations are still high with all state [player_tooltip player_id="975502" first="Gradee" last="Sherman"] on the team as well as another returning starter and the team’s 6th man from a season ago. Off to a great start including a 36 point win over B-E.
