Team Spartans continue to surge in the northeast region and nationally. The teams’ nationwide reputation starts with highly ranked prospect [player_tooltip player_id="1081778" first="Donovan" last="Clingan"], who wasn’t in action last night. A number of prospects have already earned offers and continue to build a strong reputation within the area. Last night I had the opportunity to evaluate their prospects during the team’s workout, it was my first seeing the team since September.

It’s no secret, [player_tooltip player_id="1081797" first="Tony" last="Felder"] is the leader on the court, an extension of the coach, because he is the coaches son. Tony exploited defenses with his high basketball IQ, exceptional skills, and speed with and without the ball. Throughout the workout, he consistently made the right play and valued the ball. He used his quickness to create space off the dribble asserting himself as a playmaker and scorer.

[player_tooltip player_id="1081799" first="Kalu" last="Anya"]'s confidence continues to grow on the basketball court. He utilized his improved frame and length to efficiently finish around the rim but he’s also capable of beating defenses from the outside. He showcased good footwork and ball skills in the paint area. He attacked mismatches when the opportunity presented itself either off the dribble or with his back to the basket. One thing I noticed throughout the night was his ability to be an effective passer. He scans the floor well and consistently made the right read.

[player_tooltip player_id="1081802" first="Matt" last="Curtis"] was destined to be one of the best prospects in Connecticut after a stellar sophomore campaign. Throughout the evening he was one of the better overall scorers and shot makers. Matt proved to be dangerous off the ball because of his ability to effectively use screens. Matt’s athleticism seems to have improved as well.

Will Johnson (6’5" Wing, Paulo Friere Charter School, 2022) was a new addition to the squad and showed flashes of his overall skill set and athletic slashing ability. He’s a capable shotmaker with the ability to beat defenders off the dribble. He created off the dribble and proved to be an effective passer. He was active on both ends of the court throughout the night and brought a ton of energy.

[player_tooltip player_id="1081827" first="Kingsley" last="Breen"] is a strong physical guard with sneaky athleticism. He’s improved as a passer seeing the floor well. He’s a rhythm player, if he finds his groove early he can be effective on both ends.

Timmy O’Toole (6’5" Wing, Dexter School, 2022) continued to live up to his ‘Unsung Hero’ title. He’s committed to setting the tone by doing the dirty work. He was the best defender in the gym anticipating passing lanes and gathered a number of steals. He shot it well from the perimeter making him a strong 3 & D prospect.

[player_tooltip player_id="1081810" first="Hayden" last="Abdullah"] has the size and versatility to potentially be an exceptional long term prospect. He will continue to add muscle to his frame and exceed expectations.

[player_tooltip player_id="1081819" first="Torran" last="Bosworth"] does the small things to help everyone around him get better. He makes the extra pass after dribble penetration but also knows when it’s time to be a scorer. The team benefits from having two outstanding point guards in the backcourt.
