Our weekly look at the Stock Market is a dive into a team trending up and a team trending down. Isn’t going to be overly glowing our a complete kill shot to a team but rather where they have gone in the last week or so to show a trendline.

Stock Market: Leo [UP]

The season isn’t even two weeks old yet and we have at least one team that is standing out a ton and that is the Leo Lions. Now, 2-0 on the season, it wasn’t a surprise to see them start off this well but having watch their two games to date, it was impressive in how they did it. They dismantled Fort Wayne South early and just kind of went through the motions late and the game tightened up. Fort Wayne Wayne was much closer but the same result, a 10-point win.

With the guys they have on this roster and how loaded they are, it is unlikely that they are going to slip up. If it isn’t [player_tooltip player_id="963913" first="Zack" last="Troyer"], it’s [player_tooltip player_id="870240" first="D.J." last="Allen"] in the post. If [player_tooltip player_id="874150" first="Blake" last="Davison"] ever has a bad game (he hasn’t by the way), then they have [player_tooltip player_id="870252" first="Ayden" last="Ruble"]. Fort Wayne doesn’t have the high-end teams it has had the previous couple years but the floor has risen so this will be much more of a grind but I’m not sure on paper who is better than they are outside of Homestead and Blackhawk Christian. Maybe Luers? Could see those two teams battling it out.

For me, I see the upside of Leo as a team that could win nearly all of their games on the schedule, sneak into the playoffs and find a chance to make it to the second weekend. Thought this was the likely outcome before the season started but now feel as confident as ever.

Stock Market: Bloomington South [DOWN]

One team taking a step back early on is Bloomington South. They are 1-1 on the season and I’m sure this will come off nitpicky in an early, COVID-riddled season but the loss to New Albany really threw me. Losing wasn’t that big of an issue but they did lose by 25, only scoring 36 in the game. Now, they lose a few guys, mainly [player_tooltip player_id="875651" first="Anthony" last="Leal"], but they should have some guys that were expected to step up.

The reason to chose Bloomington South as my Stock Down team is because I think a lot of people expected them to be a Top 3 level team in the state. I didn’t buy that. They just don’t have the depth to be that good. [player_tooltip player_id="647209" first="Connor" last="Hickman"] and [player_tooltip player_id="783201" first="Joseph" last="Bomba"] are both really solid but this is a team that didn’t have a bench last year and didn’t hear any new names come up this summer or fall.

They bounced back against Milan and will be a good team but I’m not sure at least right now you can say they are one of the top 3-5 teams in the state. Might take some time. I think they are a Top 20 level team but I’m going to take a passive approach and wait for they to get going here.
