Everyone knows the tale of Santa’s reindeer pulling the sleigh. Dasher, Dancer, Comet, Cupid, Prancer, Vixen, Blitzen, Donner, and Rudolph are well known in Holiday lore. What if the sleigh was being pulled by Michigan high school basketball’s senior class? Who would be the 9 players pulling the sleigh? Here are my example of 9 athletes leading the way.

[player_tooltip player_id="811091" first="Pierre" last="Brooks"] II (G/F, Detroit Frederick Douglass)

Brooks II could be considered Rudolph I suppose. Rudolph is the light that leads the way, and Brooks II is certainly that. He’s a leader among leaders and players will follow him.

[player_tooltip player_id="811093" first="Legend" last="Geeter"] (F, River Rouge)

I’d want a versatility leading the way for Michigan high school basketball, and Geeter is the definition of that. At this level, he could probably play 5 different positions.

[player_tooltip player_id="811099" first="Devin" last="Womack"] (CG, Ann Arbor Huron)

If you’ve ever watched Ann Arbor Huron play, you know that often times the team goes as Womack goes. He’s a playmaker that can finish under the rim. We need game influencers like this to pull the sleigh.

[player_tooltip player_id="611423" first="Omar" last="Ziegler"] (CG, Detroit King)

We need grit and toughness on the team that’s leading the way. Ziegler has plenty of both of those. He battles from tip to buzzer every time he steps on the floor.

[player_tooltip player_id="811128" first="Ethan" last="Erickson"] (SG, Forest Hills Northern)

If you are going to lead Michigan high school basketball, you have to know what you do well and exploit it. Enter [player_tooltip player_id="811128" first="Ethan" last="Erickson"]. He’s a cold blooded 3 point shooter and he’ll fire it every time you leave him open.

[player_tooltip player_id="814572" first="Blake" last="Woodward"] (C, Romeo)

If we’re pulling a sleigh, we need size and strength. This very accurately describes Woodward. He can dominate in the paint physically and will stand his ground amongst the best.

[player_tooltip player_id="1051073" first="Hunter" last="Soper"] (SG, Croswell-Lexington)

We need someone with the sticktoitiveness that Soper possesses. He hasn’t always gotten the publicity that he deserves, but he doesn’t let it stop him. He’s turned himself into one of the more dynamic wings in the senior class.

[player_tooltip player_id="611413" first="Owen" last="Lobsinger"] (SF, Flint Powers)

If you’re part of the team that’s leading the Michigan basketball sleigh, you have to embrace the doubters. Lobsinger has been underrated for far too long, but he’s never let it pull him down. He continues to be one of the best all around talents in the state.

[player_tooltip player_id="811135" first="Keontae" last="Barnes"] (CG, Muskegon Orchard View)

If the sleigh is going to travel the world, we need some explosiveness. Barnes will fit that bill just fine. He can get buckets in bunches.
