In preparation for the anticipated season, we’ve been releasing comprehensive preview content covering the area in and around DMV. Here is a rundown of 10 players who are likely to find themselves among the top scorers in the area.

[player_tooltip player_id="902002" first="Quincy" last="Allen"]

Allen has the skillset and athleticism to get a bucket against virtually anyone at this level. He will probably be asked to manufacture scoring opportunities on a consistent basis for Maret. All signs are pointing to a productive senior year for Allen.

[player_tooltip player_id="954251" first="Max" last="Gregory"]

Gregory enjoyed a strong junior campaign as a key contributor for the eventual PVAC Champs. McLean loses a lion's share of their rotation players meaning more usage for Gregory.

[player_tooltip player_id="697101" first="Darius" last="Johnson"]

Johnson is an explosive scorer with unlimited range, but he can also get downhill consistently and embraces contact when finishing around the basket. He's been responsible for more than a handful of impressive outbursts throughout his career so far and something tells us he's got at least a few more big games left in the tank.

[player_tooltip player_id="798696" first="Garrett" last="Johnson"]

One of the keys to Johnson's ability to get buckets at a high-level is will be his ability to get to the foul line. Now standing about 6-foot-7, you have to honor his shot, and his off-the-dribble game has improved to the point where he can apply constant pressure on the rim. This means plenty of chances from the charity stripe where he makes roughly 9 of 10 attempts.

[player_tooltip player_id="836494" first="Maurice" last="Johnson"]

Johnson was a no-brainer to make this list. He led the area in scoring last year at Chavez, and we don't see anyone stopping him from putting up similar numbers to close out his high school career.

[player_tooltip player_id="902012" first="Kino" last="Lilly Jr."]

Lilly can wreck a gameplan if his perimeter jump shot is not properly accounted for. Expect him to be among the area's leaders in three-pointers made by season's end.

[player_tooltip player_id="531233" first="Jakai" last="Robinson"]

Robinson is averaging close to 20 points per game throughout his first three high school seasons. Each year, he's added new elements to his game that make him more efficient. It will be interesting to see what new tactics Robinson has implemented that could make him even more effective.

[player_tooltip player_id="798699" first="Andre" last="Speight"]

Speight has been an important player at South County for several years now. He's a tremendous improviser who can score at will regardless of the situation. Coach Robinson will have high expectations, but Speight should be able to deliver.

[player_tooltip player_id="902016" first="Mohamed" last="Toure"]

Toure is a safe bet to average at least 20 points per game at Sandy Spring. He feasted in the PVAC playoffs and had some big games this summer. The athletic wing is very good in transition and can get going when his jumper is falling.

[player_tooltip player_id="902022" first="Day’sJuan" last="Waters"]

Waters has the track record and game to be among the WCAC's leading scorers. He is dangerous because he can mix it up from 15 feet and in but you also have to honor his perimeter jump shot first.
