One of the best slashers in the Minnesota senior class is Jabari Langley Jabari Langley 6'0" | SG Minneapolis Edison | 2021 State MN of Edison. His first step combined with the ability to extend or touch in a shot before the help closes space ranks with the best. Langley averaged 17.3 points, five boards, four assists, and a couple steals a game as a junior.
Edison was a .500 club at 12-12 last year, and won 15 games the season before that. That’s back to back double figure win seasons. Prior to that, we can’t even find a double win season for the Tommies on the internet. We found three 1-win seasons in the last 15 years though. At the heart of the turnaround has been the hard working Jabari Langley Jabari Langley 6'0" | SG Minneapolis Edison | 2021 State MN , and he hasn’t stopped working.
“This fall I’ve been making sure I don’t get lazy doing something everyday whether it’s 50 push-ups or a 2 hour workout outside,” Langley said. “Also I’m staying in contact with my team making sure we have chemistry on and off the court.”
Edison is fighting to be a top three squad in the Minneapolis City Conference and they have a chance to host a playoff game this year in Section 6AAA.
“Right now we’re looking like a top contender for the city conference,” Jabari said. “We have a great team that keeps getting better and better. We don’t expect it to be easy, but we’ll make it happen.
“My goals and expectations for the team this season is to win most of our games and fight hard every game no matter how much we’re winning or losing by. When we play hard and together there’s very few teams that can stop us.”
Langley has been at the center of the Edison improvements the last three years – Jabari will be a four year varsity player – and it’s come via the guidance of Ahmil Jihad and the Edison coaching staff.
“Big shout out to everyone on the Edison Staff,” Jabari said. “They go out their way to get us extra practice, give us drills to do at home, take us out to eat as a team and plenty more. Their job is to coach us but they’re doing a lot more than that. The coaches and all my teammates have made this team into a family and we’re do anything for our brothers.”
Jabari brings energy to everything he does. He brings energy to his Edison team, we saw him play with great energy competing for Team Get Shook, he brings energy to math class as he enjoys math, doing puzzles, participating in YPE, everything Langley does he puts effort into it. And he will put energy into his college basketball career as well. A few schools are calling Jabari, and a lot more should making calls soon.
“Right now I’ve only heard from Augsburg and some interest shown from a D2 Juco school In Michigan. I just got to keep working hard, it’ll pay off. My next steps is just to try to get myself known more and I plan to do that with my team this season.”
