Coming into the game Grand Forks Central was 2-2. Fargo South is ranked #8 in this week’s Power Rankings and had a 3-1 record. The Bruins had a fast start going on a 7-0 run to begin the game. The Knights stopped the bleeding and battled back to tie it at 12-12. Fargo South had a balanced attack in the first half today. The Bruins had seven players score in the first half of the action. South shared the ball well and attacked the Central half-court zone with precision at times. At one point the Bruins had an 18-point lead. The Knights would not go away and they cut the lead down to 12 going into halftime. Kahamani Steckler led South at halftime with 9 points and [player_tooltip player_id="750180" first="Mason" last="Love"] led Central with 11 points.2

The start of the second half was dominated by the Bruins. South’s largest lead of the half would get up to 18 points. The Knights battled all game and never gave up. Late in the half Central would cut the lead down to 4 and everyone was ready for the comeback. Sibomana Enock from South had other ideas. He knocked down a big 3-pointer against the Knight’s 2-3 zone. Enock also had a big block late while hustling back in transition to help seal the win for South. The Bruins held on for a 7-point victory. The big story of the second half was the high scoring guards from both teams. [player_tooltip player_id="1110932" first="Kameron" last="Arechigo"] from South had 18 points in the second half with 3 triples, he finished with 26 points and 5 triples in the game. [player_tooltip player_id="750180" first="Mason" last="Love"] from Central had 21 points in the second half with 5 triples, he finished with 32 points and 7 triples in the game.

Made three-pointers- Grand Forks Central = 9 Fargo South = 11

Game Takeaways – Love and Arechigo are gifted shooters who can fill it up in a hurry. South looked good in transition today, running lanes hard and getting the ball up the court. Central is a tough team that does not give up, they could have rolled over several times in this one. [player_tooltip player_id="998907" first="Khamani" last="Steckler"] is a beast inside.

Halftime Score
Grand Forks Central –26 Fargo South – 38
Final Score
Grand Forks Central – 63 Fargo South – 70

Fargo South
Abubakarr Fullah (2021) |5-7 G| Fargo South – Quick guard who is a good on-ball defender. He pushes the tempo on offense. Abubakarr put in two clutch free throws to put the nail in the Knights coffin at the end of regulation.

[player_tooltip player_id="1110932" first="Kameron" last="Arechigo"] (2021) |6-2 G| Fargo South – Huge second half today. The Knights played zone and Kam had his way with it. He kept busting the zone with 3’s and jumpers, but they stayed with it. Kam seems to always be in control and never rushed. His pull-up game looked great today. I expect him to only improve as the season goes on. He is going to have a monumental year in the stat book.

[player_tooltip player_id="998907" first="Khamani" last="Steckler"] (2021) |6-8 F| Fargo South – This big fella dominates in the paint on O and D. It is a no-fly zone when #35 is in the lane on defense. Khamani showed today that he can hit the fifteen-foot jumper with a soft touch. He was in a bit of foul trouble, so his numbers where not as high as normal. Steckler still had a big impact on the game.

Sibomana Enock (2021) |6-0 G| Fargo South – He ended with 8 points and two 3-pointers. His three late in the game was key and closed the door on the comeback. His block near the end of the game was also vital. Sibomana had a solid all-around game today.

Tre Hendrickson (2021) |5-11 G| Fargo South – A knockdown 3-point shooter. Tre made three triples. He moves well without the ball who finds the soft spot in the zone. Tre is a patient shooter who does not force up shots.

Grand Forks Central
[player_tooltip player_id="750187" first="Alex" last="Barbot"] (2021) |6-3 F| Grand Forks Central –He finished with 9 points in the game. Alex is a long athletic player who does well attacking the hoop. He can hit the open three-point shot.

[player_tooltip player_id="750164" first="Mason" last="Gravseth"] (2021) |6-4 F| Grand Forks Central – I liked his patience in the post and how he made his move after reacting to the defense. He can step outside and make the 3-point shot from beyond the arc. Alex is a strong bulky post who plays with high energy. Rebounding is a strength of his because of his determination and size. He finished with 12 points in the game.

[player_tooltip player_id="750180" first="Mason" last="Love"] (2021) |6-0 G| Grand Forks Central – A great and confident free throw shooter (6-7 today). He had a good first half and an amazing second half offensively. Mason was attacking the Bruins defenders all game. I appreciated his confidence and short memory. If he missed a shot or turned it over, he came right back the next possession and made something happen. He is a determined player who was relentless going downhill all game. When the D gave him space, he hit the 3 in their face. Mason had a very nice performance in today’s game despite the loss.

Sam Strandell (2022) |6-3 G| Grand Forks Central – An aggressive lefty who played hard the entire game. Sam finished with 9 points in the game.
