HypeSouth Hardwood Invitational Top Performers

The Demon Den at Warner Robins was host to HypeSouth Media’s Hardwood Invitational, featuring top programs from Middle and South Georgia.

2023 6-0 CG [player_tooltip player_id="820312" first="Jaylen" last="Sanford"] – Jones County

An athletic guard that likes to get downhill, [player_tooltip player_id="820312" first="Jaylen" last="Sanford"] thrived in transition in Jones County’s 68-36 win over Howard. Sanford has a quick first step and explodes to the basket with an impressive vertical. He can hit the open three, but slashing is his forte for now. He made plays on defense with his active hands and was a nuisance in the press. He finished with 19 points, 3 rebounds, 1 assist and 5 steals.

2023 5-9 PG Daethan Harris – Jones County

Daethan Harris didn’t have to pour in the points to make an impact. I was impressed with the little floor general. He was a trustworthy ball handler that could play at different speeds. He was effective in drive and kick opportunities and got shooters open looks. When he did call his own number, Daethan showed three-point range and a push floater in the lane. Harris was a tough on-ball defender, moving laterally to stay in front. He tallied 5 points, 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals.

2022 5-10 G Christian Hill – Central-Macon

The Chargers really struggled to compete with Houston County but one player did bring his hardhat and that was Christian Hill. The two-sport standout that also shines on the diamond, played bigger than his size and provided great effort no matter what the scoreboard said. Hill did a little bit of everything picking up 14 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 steals.

2021 5-9 PG Dallas Jackson – Houston County

With no [player_tooltip player_id="869630" first="HB" last="Morgan"] available, Dallas Jackson took the reins and paced the Bears with 19 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists and 5 steals. Jackson used his athleticism and motor and hurt Central-Macon in a variety of ways. He hit two threes, went 3-5 from the foul line and set the tone early with his pace. The quick guard could be a nice late get.

2021 6-0 PG [player_tooltip player_id="869624" first="Tre" last="Grane"] – Northside-Warner Robins

Listed at 6-foot, [player_tooltip player_id="869624" first="Tre" last="Grane"]’ stat lines are always so much bigger. Grane is a gamer. A true competitor that is used to carrying the load. Offensively he stays in attack mode and puts the defense in bad positions. He’s a foul magnet that knows how to use his body once he gets in traffic. Grane went 10-12 from the line in his 24-point, 11-rebound, 3-assist, 1-steal, 1-block performance. More than just a slasher, Tre hit two trey balls to balance his attack. His tenacity on the glass highlights the great effort he brings for the full 32 minutes. Small schools will want to track his senior season. Grane’s toughness could help out right away.

2021 6-9 F [player_tooltip player_id="687647" first="Jordan" last="Brown"] – Northside-Warner Robins

School’s in search of an elite shot blocker loaded with skill offensively need to buzz [player_tooltip player_id="687647" first="Jordan" last="Brown"]. He’s such an interesting player. He shows flashes here and there on offense, but isn’t featured too heavily. But even if he’s not a top option on offense, he still manages to anchor the defense. College coaches were locked in on Brown after he put up 8 points, 2 rebounds, 4 steals and 8 blocks – a unique stat line for a 6-foot-9 stretch forward. Brown is the type of high academic prospect that could make a coach look very smart if he reaches his all-around potential at the next level.

2021 6-9 F [player_tooltip player_id="869584" first="Isaac" last="Abidde"] – Westover

Battling one of the state’s elite shot blockers, [player_tooltip player_id="869584" first="Isaac" last="Abidde"] showed out with his diverse skillset. He looked like a MM-HM prospect with his size, freakish athleticism and now his soft touch. The big man known for his rim-rocking dunks stepped outside and buried three threes en route to 26 points, 11 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal and 1 block. He’s got even more room for growth as a ball handler. There aren’t many players that blend so many different attributes like Abidde does. Don’t be surprised if he lands at a big school and finds a way to have a very productive career.

2021 6-0 PG [player_tooltip player_id="1039907" first="Shamir" last="Wingfield"] – Westover

Bam was steady throughout in Westover’s 61-57 win over Northside-Warner Robins. He picked his spots well and didn’t force the issue. He made some plays on defense, blocking shots and earning knockaways. He finished with 15 points, 3 rebounds, 2 steals and 2 blocks.
