The CVC is one of the more underrated conferences in the state as four different teams won 20 games last season. The conference is filled with talented players, some of which are flying under the radar. Here are the top breakout candidates to watch in the CVC this season.

[player_tooltip player_id="1027935" first="Ayden" last="Hogan"], 6’2 SG Hightstown 2022

The Rams have to replace their top six scorers from last year, but they have one of the better 2022 guards in the conference in Hogan. The 6’2 guard plays with confidence on the ball and does not mind drawing contact around the rim. Hogan is a good finisher around the basket, but can also knock down jumpers from the perimeter. He works hard on the defensive end and brings energy to the floor at all times. Hightstown has the potential to be one of the top teams in the CVC this year with Hogan getting an expanded role in the offense.

Sean Foley, 6’5 PF Allentown 2021

The Redbirds have to replace Conference Player of the Year [player_tooltip player_id="926737" first="RJ" last="Weise"], but they will get a boost down low in Foley. The 6’5 forward has a nice touch around the basket and is able to draw contact with frequency. Foley knows how to set good screens in the halfcourt and can get position down low. He is a good rebounder and can play post defense. Foley is a tough forward prospect that should have a strong senior season for Allentown.

Jack Croce, 6’5 SF Notre Dame 2023

The Irish pulled off an upset in last year’s state tournament and they have the potential to have a strong year in the CVC with Croce getting more looks. The 6’5 forward can handle the ball on the perimeter and get to the basket. Croce is a good finisher around the basket and has a nice release on his jumper. He can knock down shots from the perimeter and is an underrated rebounder. Croce is a skilled wing prospect who should have a breakout season for Notre Dame.

Brian Herbert, 6’3 SG Robbinsville 2022

The Ravens won 20 games last season and should be one of the top teams in the CVC again. Herbert had a strong summer for the Jersey Force 16U as he showed his ability to knock down perimeter jumpers. The 6’3 guard has a quick release and moves exceptionally well off the ball. He is more than just a shooter as he can handle the ball on the perimeter and moves his feet well on the defensive end. Herbert is ready for an expanded role in Robbinsville’s offense alongside [player_tooltip player_id="933639" first="Ryan" last="Smith"].

[player_tooltip player_id="1035700" first="Arterio" last="Williams"], 6’4 SF Hamilton West 2022

The Hornets had a bit of a down season last year, but they got a boost with the addition of Williams. The Nottingham transfer is a big-time athlete who likes to finish above the rim. Williams has a strong frame which gives him the ability to draw contact around the basket. He has the lateral quickness to defend multiple positions and fights for rebounds on both ends. Williams’ combination of athleticism and toughness should allow him to have a strong debut season for Hamilton West.

Other Players to Watch:

Quiyon McMillan, 6’1 CG Nottingham 2023

Antwan Bridgett, 5’7 PG Trenton 2023

Brandon Ford, 6’1 SG Lawrence 2023

Jake O’Grady, 6’5 SF/PF Hopewell Valley 2024

[player_tooltip player_id="1012987" first="Jaden" last="Oldjohn"], 6’0 PG Steinert 2021
