The holiday season practically begs for high-level basketball, and that’s what the Christmas Crossover delivered. Guards in both games stole the show, including an explosive 33 point performance from a talented unsigned senior. On the flip side, a rising star in Texas 2022 class held his own against one of the best frontcourts in the state.

Johnathan Massie

Big guards like Massie will always curry my favor, especially if they can play above the rim like Massie. His highly efficient game netted 18 points and several finishes through contact. His two dribble pull up in the mid-range looks great. He’ll be part of a talented McNeese State class.

[player_tooltip player_id="887045" first="Sir" last="Isaac Herron"]

Herron’s best contribution came from the defensive end. He flashes the offensive tools to be a tough matchup on that end as well, especially with his jump shot inside the arc, but it’s the disruptive defensive plays that lead to a Titan’s win. The unsigned senior with a handful of mid-major offers showcased his athleticism and timing with 4 blocks. When leading the team’s press, his length and quickness stunted ball movement the entire game.

[player_tooltip player_id="887059" first="Robert" last="Jennings"]

Jennings continues to impress in these showcase games. He TACA’s go to scorer tallying a double-double before the third quarter closed and finishing the game with 22 points and 12 rebounds. Aggressive was the best way to describe Jennings on the night. The 2022 prospect saw the line 12 times many coming on the back of and 1 finishes. A lot of his production predicated on his motor and athleticism, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t make plays when he puts the ball on the ground.

[player_tooltip player_id="1047729" first="Brian" last="Myles"]

Having a 6-7 guy come off the bench in a high school game is a luxury. The senior didn’t miss a shot on his way to 13 points and 5 rebound game. Prairie View A&M is getting a big guy that routinely produces through his energy.

[player_tooltip player_id="887072" first="Aaron" last="Scott"]

Scott didn’t have a good day shooting the ball (0-6 from the field). But when you have a 4 assist 0 turnover game against a good team color me impressed. He had some passes, none better than the alley-oop to the previously mentioned Johnathan Massie.

Bralyn Smith

Smith Shook off a cold streak to hit two deep threes back-to-back threes. A Hot third quarter earned him 9 of his 12 points. He’s just a sophomore but with 6-5 size and a streaky shot from deep, he’s going to be worth following.

[player_tooltip player_id="887052" first="Noah" last="Kon"]

Coming into this game I knew Kon was an impressive athlete, but he showed up my expectations. He repeatedly beat defenders off the dribble and finished around a near 7-foot rim protector. Kon got to his spots in the mid-range coming alive in the first and fourth with a combined 16 points coming from the elbow area. He’s such a threat to score that it opens passing lanes for teammates. His 33 points lead all scorers in the event and 25 of those came in the first and fourth frames.

[player_tooltip player_id="1052154" first="Dok" last="Muordar"]

A newcomer to the state of Texas, Muordar is an impressive 6-11 big. He runs the floor, alters shots, and excels as a finisher. He uses his high major length and mobility to defend the paint, briefly sliding with any player that could get a foot in the paint. His addition to the Houston area makes Texas’ 2022 that much deeper.

[player_tooltip player_id="1047784" first="Ethan" last="Yancy"]

Houston Christian did everything they could to slow down Yancy, but his talents still pulled in 22 points. Yancy is explosive at the rim and out of a hesitation dribble. He did some of his best work in transition where quick, shifty moves created space for him to attack or get into his shot.

Nathan Self

You have to love a shooter with bounce, and that’s exactly what Self is. He has range beyond the college three, hitting on 4 of his 9 attempts from deep.
