<p>The 40th Annual Beach Ball Classic sure does look different this year with several Palmetto State schools in the event. The Beach Ball Classic is held every year at the Myrtle Beach Beach Convention Center on the Grand Strand. Lets take a look at first day results before diving into some more action from the event. </p>
<p><strong>First Baptist 58 Cape Fear Academy (Wilmington, NC) 55 (2 Overtimes) </strong></p>
<p>The Beach Ball Classic started in prime fashion as two sets of Hurricanes came to blows to start the event. The First Baptist Hurricanes based out of Charleston improved to (6-1) with the win. Citadel bound football player <strong>Mikey Blandin</strong> led the way with 14 points and 6 rebounds. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="837322" first="Colin" last="McKenzie"]</strong> and<strong> [player_tooltip player_id="1023658" first="Dove" last="Fishburne"]</strong> both added 11 points in the win. </p>
<p>Guard <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="1006289" first="Gavin" last="Guion"]</strong> led the way for the Hurricanes from Hoop State with 17 points and 5 assists.<strong> Jack McErlean</strong> added 15 points while <strong>Imran Armstrong</strong> added 13 points and 6 rebounds. </p>

<p><strong>Greensboro Day 66 Carolina Forest HS 57 </strong></p>
<p>The Bengals defeated a feisty group from the Grand strand to move onto the Quarterfinals. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="577888" first="Jaydon" last="Young"]</strong> scored 15 points and grabbed 11 rebounds in the win.<strong> [player_tooltip player_id="848080" first="Michael" last="Zanoni"]</strong> added 13 points, <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="577847" first="Nikolas" last="Graves"]</strong> dropped in 12 points while <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="577840" first="Jackson" last="Noble"]</strong> scored 11 points. </p>
<p>Wofford football signee <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="927506" first="Kyle" last="Watkins"]</strong> led the way for the Panthers with 14 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="976946" first="Corbin" last="Pack"]</strong> added 13 points while <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="930633" first="Jonah" last="Nesmith"]</strong> chipped in 10 points for the Panthers. </p>
<p><strong>Gray Collegiate 70 Cape Fear Christian (Erwin, NC) 57 </strong></p>
<p>The War Eagles came into the game a bit shorthanded here today for Head Coach Dion Bethea. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="927500" first="Chase" last="McDuffie"]</strong> a North Carolina A&T signee led the way with 24 points. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="1005768" first="Timothy" last="Barnes"]</strong> is headed to UMKC next season added 14 points while <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="594048" first="Calvin" last="Hall"]</strong> scored 10 points. Point guard <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="865341" first="Trai" last="White"]</strong> added 7 points and 6 assists. Super sophomore <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="865307" first="Brandon" last="Gardner"]</strong> didn’t play in the game today. The War Eagles move to (8-2) on the year. </p>
<p>Cape Fear Christian was led in scoring by <strong>Tristin Harkins</strong> with 15 points while<strong> [player_tooltip player_id="787670" first="Amari" last="Pearson"]</strong> and <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="848069" first="Cinque" last="Lemon"]</strong> both chipped in with 11 points a piece. Cape Fear Christian falls to (11-5) on the season. </p>
<p><strong>Bishop McLaughlin (FL) 79 Cheraw HS 38 </strong></p>
<p>Bishop McLaughlin ran away from the beginning and never looked back versus the undermanned Braves. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="814898" first="Dillon" last="Mitchell"]</strong> added a double-double with 25 points and 11 rebounds in the victory while <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="1065446" first="Joshua" last="Watkins"]</strong> added 18 points and 6 steals in the win. </p>
<p>The Class 3A Braves playing without the services of <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="840225" first="Marshall" last="Myers"]</strong> were led in scoring by <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="927576" first="Jonathan" last="Gordon"]</strong> with 12 points and 10 rebounds.<strong> [player_tooltip player_id="930610" first="Devin" last="Gillespie"]</strong> was able to manage 7 points in the game as the Braves fall to (2-4) on the season. </p>
<p><strong>Oak Ridge (FL) 59 North Myrtle Beach HS 50 </strong></p>
<p>Oak Ridge HS improved to (8-0) on the season with the victory over the local team Chiefs (1-2). North Myrtle Beach HS just playing in its 3rd game of the season as the football program made a run to the Class 4A State Championship Game this past season. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="927571" first="Kymani" last="Knox"]</strong> and <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="1052271" first="Cameron" last="Henley"]</strong> both scored 13 points for the Chiefs in the game. Knox added 7 rebounds in the tough loss. </p>
<p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id="548985" first="Jalen" last="Smith"]</strong> a SMU signee led the way for Oak Ridge HS with 16 points. <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="714770" first="Michael" last="James"]</strong> a Louisville commit added 12 points while <strong>[player_tooltip player_id="814920" first="Fabio" last="Basili"]</strong> <span style="font-size: 1rem;">chipped in with 10 points. </span></p>
