As we are hopeful for an AIA season to start now in mid-January, we look at some of the top players in every conference.

We move over to the top PG’s in 6A. Many of them are Player of the Year candidates.

As expected we have a lot of talent in this category, as their are usually many top guards in the state.

Here are some of the top ones that will impact their teams:

[player_tooltip player_id="703811" first="Jason" last="Kimbrough Jr"] (Mountain Pointe)

-A top on-ball defender and one of the team leaders. He has found that happy medium of scorer and facilitator and can lead them deep in the playoffs. They are one of the 6A favorites to win it all and will lead by example.

[player_tooltip player_id="809697" first="Isaiah" last="Freeney"] (South Mountain) (Pictured)

-A scoring guard who can also make a deep run for his team. He plays on and off the ball and is a vocal leader for the Jaguars. Not many better then him and [player_tooltip player_id="827006" first="Lareon" last="Ginnis"].

[player_tooltip player_id="703827" first="Steven" last="Cervantes Jr"] (Mesa)

-A lights out shooter has the ability to carry his team in stretches. His ability to change speeds makes him a tough cover. Him and [player_tooltip player_id="703848" first="Jimari" last="Grayson"] will form a tough back court.

[player_tooltip player_id="809699" first="Carson" last="Kelly"] (Chandler)

-Look for Kelly to take on an even bigger role this season. Losing two of the top scorers will give him an abundant of shots and he will cash in for sure. He is quick, shifty, skilled and can make plays for his teammates when needed.

[player_tooltip player_id="809698" first="Joe" last="Kelsey"] (Desert Ridge)

-One of the top shooting lead guards in 6A. He has a true clip and a fast trigger. Once again another Jaguar who can shoot. It is a common theme of all their players. As good as some of the others are, Kelsey may be the most important since the ball will be in his hands often.

[player_tooltip player_id="827007" first="Oakland" last="Fort"] (Sunnyslope)

-On one of the most talented starting fives in state. Fort in my opinion is the most important. He can score it from all three levels and can do it in style. He can play above the rim and hit from the parking lot with his extended range. He uses speed, skill and athleticism to his advantage.

[player_tooltip player_id="827006" first="Lareon" last="Ginnis"] (South Mountain)

-A jet in the open court is arguably the top on-ball defender in the junior class from the state. He has a yo-yo handle and a real burst into the lane. He makes plays for others and is an unselfish teammate.

[player_tooltip player_id="701269" first="Raydon" last="Thorson"] (Queen Creek)

-A breakout player last year will have to do it all this year. He can put his team on his back and score more then ever but he will still do what he does best, and that is make everyone on the court better with his next level passing.

[player_tooltip player_id="701251" first="Miles" last="Nash"] (Brophy Prep)

-The pure PG is a two-way player that will defend and make plays for his team. He is fast, quick and gets into the lane to create or score. His jumper keeps making growth and [player_tooltip player_id="826996" first="Patrick" last="Chew"], [player_tooltip player_id="942125" first="Desi" last="Burrage"] and Nash form a tough trio.

[player_tooltip player_id="814039" first="Mark" last="Brown Jr"] (Mountain Pointe)

-The top scoring soph guard in 6A is a tough cover. He can make plays for his talented team but it’s his scoring that makes his game go to help the Pride win games. He will be asked to compliment [player_tooltip player_id="814036" first="Roosevelt" last="Washington"] and [player_tooltip player_id="703811" first="Jason" last="Kimbrough Jr"] and then take over even more duties next year.
