Now, it is time to introduce you to five more newbies from the 2024 Class who have made immediate impressions.
Antonio Starks-Fewell 6’1″ Springfield Central: The athletic guard got his career off to a rousing start by averaging 20 points and making a total of eight 3-pointers in the two games he played at the Clever Tournament. He has a smooth lefty stroke from distance and he also excels in transition. He will also get after it on defense with his activity and quick hands, which picked a few pockets.
Jobe Bryant 5’11” Park Hills Central: Jobe is an elite young point guard who already knows how to control the flow of the game and make everyone else around him better. His skill level, poise and basketball IQ bely is very young years. He can touch the paint on the dribble and knock down a 3-pointer if a defender backs off. He has already delivered some jaw-dropping dimes.
Jadis Jones 6’5″ New Madrid Central: One of those many talented 2024s at New Madrid, the athletic lefty is already putting in work at the SEMO Tournament, where you can really make your reputation. He is force on the offensive boards, but he also has smooth handles with the ability to slash and make pull up for jumpers. Had 13 points in his SEMO debut against a big Jackson team.
B.J. Williamson 6’0″ New Madrid Central: Another talented newbie at New Madrid who is tough when he’s getting to the basket with his quick first step and ability to finish. He plays at a good pace on offense and he will hawk the ball on defense. Strong and quick. Had eight points and six rebounds in his debut.
Chaz Watson, Lee’s Summit West: A talented young guard who stepped up in a game I saw in the Phog Allen Tournament when many of his teammates were out. He has good length and played with a lot of confidence on offense with a nice pull up jumper and 3-point range.
