The Wing Man Report: High School Season Approaches

<p>The Wing Man Report returns with a look at high school hoops around the corner. Here’s a look at the latest happenings in the state of North Carolina.</p> <h4>East/West Game comes down to 2OTs</h4> <p>The Triad Blue Chip Basketball Academy Fall League come to an exciting conclusion this past Wednesday as the Spartans (Mount Tabor) and Pirates (Page) squared off in the East/West Championship game which took double overtime to decide a winner. The Spartans prevailed in the end, ending the season undefeated at 9-0 thanks to 21 points from [player_tooltip player_id="1070055" first="Daniel" last="Fulp"] and 29 points from 2022 guard <strong>Jay Torrence</strong>. Torrence turned heads this game with his athleticism and ability to shoot the 3-ball. He knocked down six 3-pointers in the game to pace the offense. <strong>2022 guard </strong><strong>Finley Simmons </strong>was another standout with 12 points while running the point guard position. The Spartans overcame 26 points from [player_tooltip player_id="574435" first="Jaden" last="Ellis"], who played a masterful game, to get the 87-84 victory in the end when the game came down to free throws.</p> <h4>[player_tooltip player_id="533518" first="Elijah" last="Jamison"] Shines at Big Shots Rocky Top Hoopfest</h4> <p>[player_tooltip player_id="533518" first="Elijah" last="Jamison"] didn’t disappoint in his debut with Liberty Heights Institute on the Big Shots stage this past weekend with his transition to the point guard position. Jamison was one of a few standouts in the Liberty Heights rotation with his ability to run the offense, get to the rim and finish with authority and defend the ball with a ton of pressure. He finished with 12.5 ppg and showed off his distribution skills this past weekend. He’s a lot stronger and leaner and as a result, he’s a lot more of a well-rounded point guard. Look for his recruitment to grow this season as he plays a national schedule.</p> <h4>[player_tooltip player_id="838020" first="Kuluel" last="Mading"] Down to Final Four</h4> <p>Big man [player_tooltip player_id="838020" first="Kuluel" last="Mading"] will make his college decision on November 14, his birthday, and is down to a final four of Howard, North Carolina Central, Providence and Clemson. He’s a top prospect in the state given his ability to play inside and out and protect the rim. He’s down to an intriguing final list of schools with two HBCUs, an ACC school and Big East school left remaining. It wouldn’t be a shock if he chose an HBCU. Also, don’t be surprised if he’s a top duo in the state alongside [player_tooltip player_id="838021" first="Jamarii" last="Thomas"]. <strong>Prediction: Howard</strong> </p> <h5>The NCISAA officially kicks off today.
