The Triad Blue Chip Academy Playoffs wrapped up the B Division, East Division and West Division this past weekend. Here’s a look at some standout prospects

B Division Champions Crowned

In the B Division, the Greyhounds (North Surry) and Royals (Burlington Christian Academy) squared off in the Final of the Fall League B Division and neither disappointed as the game came down to the final possession. The Greyhounds squeaked out a 46-44 victory in the end when it was all said and done, led by rising 2023 prospect [player_tooltip player_id="951363" first="Jahreece" last="Lynch"]. Lynch is an explosive guard that can create off the bounce using his athleticism. He led the way with 18 points and took home Game MVP honors.

Teammates James McReary and Brayden Ring also turned heads. McReary is an indispensable hustle guy that finished with seven points and a number of blocks and steals. Ring finished with 11 points, showing off his ability to get open off the bounce and get to the free throw line.

The Royals were led by Connor Johnson (10 pts) and Josiah Watkins (11 points). Johnson showed off his ability to get established early on the inside. Watkins is a lead guard with a ton of potential as a floor general.

East/West Champion Crowned

The Triad Blue Chip Academy Fall League was an interesting one this year as the East Division and West Division were born to seperate the amount of talent in the area. In the West, the Spartans and Demons squared off in the Fall League Final with the winners squaring off on Thursday at Salem Baptist Christian School.

The Spartans took home the West crown with a dominant performance on the inside from [player_tooltip player_id="1070055" first="Daniel" last="Fulp"]. Fulp finished with 10 pts and 14 rebounds in the victory, showing off his ability to be a presence in the paint. Findley Simmons also showed off his ability to run the point guard spot, something he should do a lot of this season for the Spartans. They’ll be a tough opponent to face for the East Champions.

They overcame 18 points from [player_tooltip player_id="932080" first="Tyriek" last="Leach"] and 14 points from [player_tooltip player_id="932079" first="Caden" last="Davis"] to get the victory in the end, two top unsigned seniors in the Triad.

In the East, the Pirates and Nighthawks squared off in the Finals. It looked like [player_tooltip player_id="577864" first="Nolan" last="Hodge"] and the Nighthawks would run away with it in the early going, with Hodge opening up with 8 first half points. [player_tooltip player_id="574435" first="Jaden" last="Ellis"] stepped up in a big way for the Pirates though, leading the charge in the second half as they pulled off the victory. Ellis showed off his ability to score on all three levels and get his teammates involved in [player_tooltip player_id="838051" first="Zion" last="Connor"] and Joshua Scovens. Scovens is an emerging junior that’s coming along on the interior while Connor will make a solid backcourt mate alongside Ellis in 2020-21.
