The holidays wouldn’t be complete without watching high-level amateur sports after dinner. The Thanksgiving Hoopfest featured four teams and a chance to see another 15+ Division 1 athletes, including Emoni Bates. Check out what the future stars of college hoops have in store for the world.

[player_tooltip player_id="889577" first="Cameron" last="Corhen"] | John Paul II | 2022

This game was another confirmation of Corhen’s ability to play as a mid to high major vertical threat. In the first half alone he flushed to dunks, blocked a shot, and hit a three. Size, production, and mobility are three huge assets to have as a four.

[player_tooltip player_id="779855" first="Wade" last="Taylor"] | Lancaster | Texas A&M

Taylor’s always been a terrific floor general. Just ask the guys who’ve watched him run 17U teams since he was a freshman. He can win you a ball game. His early playmaking kept his team within swinging distance. His 21 points were the most of any player, even though it took him 22 shots. His 6 steals stolen possessions from a high powered offense that scored a season-low 61.

[player_tooltip player_id="779884" first="Jaylon" last="Tyson"] | John Paul II | Texas Tech

A consistent two-way threat Tyson put on a shot making display reminiscent of his breakout summer. His shot making may have been lackluster 4 of 14 from the field, but 4 of 8 from three on the other hand is really good. Two of his shots from deep came right after the other, giving a push to their 15-2 run.

[player_tooltip player_id="684376" first="Manny" last="Obaseki"] | John Paul II | Texas A&M

Obaseki’s performance is filled with tough finishes that he makes look easy. He finishes off either foot, while switching hands, and through contact. The guard’s size and athleticism are well documented, so that huge dunk he powered through top cap off the rim is par for the course.

[player_tooltip player_id="887087" first="Elijah" last="Hughey"] | Lancaster | Western Kentucky

Hughey is one of Texas’s best seniors when shooting the ball like he did today. Hughey, a 6-6 wing, hit two of three shots from deep while mixing in three shots in the midrange. The Western Kentucky commit scored in double figures while two high major players with positive defensive ties to their scouting reports were in the opposite jerseys.

[player_tooltip player_id="958896" first="CJ" last="Ford"] | Duncanville | 2022

A stellar [player_tooltip player_id="958896" first="CJ" last="Ford"] game always starts with a smooth shooting display. Ford’s given you the defensive intensity you want from the guard spot since the summer, but when he’s 4 of 6 from three like last night, his stock elevates. He’s a knockdown wing and corner shooter, even hitting the go-ahead three just below free throw line extended.

[player_tooltip player_id="787336" first="Ron" last="Holland"] | Duncanville | 2023

Last year Duncanville took one of their 5 losses in the Thanksgiving Hoopfest. This year it looks like Holland wasn’t having any of that after posting 18 points and 16 rebounds. All nine of his buckets came in the paint, many showing the athleticism and fire that earned him 5-star status. Ron rebounds, finishes above the rim, is a versatile defender, and the athlete to produce in a winning culture while rounding out the rest of his game. The intensity he brings to defense will keep him a two-way contributor throughout his career.
