New Mexico Spotlight Top 100 Senior Analysis

<p>The New Mexico Spotlight Top 100 featured the very best New Mexico basketball players in the state. I watched the senior class showcase their skills on November 7th, 2020. </p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>[player_tooltip player_id="1076672" first="Joel" last="Armotrading"] - 6’9 Menaul High School</p> <p>[player_tooltip player_id="1076672" first="Joel" last="Armotrading"] is an enforcer and extremely strong rebounder. He has great interior scoring presence and likes to play above-the-rim. Joel is a very strong decision-maker and he knows how to use his long athletic ability around the rim. Joel plays strong defense which easily shows his D1 ability. [player_tooltip player_id="1076672" first="Joel" last="Armotrading"] is a definite D1 prospect and is poised for a huge breakout. </p> <p>[player_tooltip player_id="1076624" first="Junior" last="Hodnett"] - 6’2 Rio Rancho High School</p> <p>[player_tooltip player_id="1076624" first="Junior" last="Hodnett"] had a great showing. This is a very strong shooter who killed teams from deep all summer. This kid launches bombs from all angles of the three point line.  As precise and efficient as Junior is with his shooting, he is also a defensive standout. I watched him have a large number of blocks, steals and rejections throughout the summer. [player_tooltip player_id="1076624" first="Junior" last="Hodnett"] was a marquee standout in the New Mexico Spotlight Top 100. </p> <p>Shawn Gilbert - 6’2 Sandia High School</p> <p>An explosive combo guard who has a good feel for the game. Shawn is a high IQ player who can slash to the hole. Shawn played his offense at a very smooth pace.  He easily beat defenders on the dribble and was able to put it into attack mode. He has a nice ability with his mid range shooting and plays defense effectively. </p> <p>[player_tooltip player_id="1076629" first="Taymon" last="Burrola"] - 6’3 Roswell High School</p> <p>[player_tooltip player_id="1076629" first="Taymon" last="Burrola"] is a sniper. This kid can absolutely light you up if you give him any space. I’m telling you don’t leave this kid open because he will absolutely make you pay. He can bury the long ball and kill you on the inside. A bonafide sniper who can also slash to the hole. Taymon has great athleticism and a high IQ when he is on the court.  Taymon also defends very well and has quick hands. </p> <p>Vance Rudolph - 5’11 Rio Rancho</p> <p>Vance Rudolph’s feel for the game made the most impact on the floor. He is very athletic on both sides of the floor and has has a nice long ball stroke. Vance shoots the ball well within the interior and has a very nice floater. A crafty slasher who can attack the basket if you give him the lane. Vance is a solid defender who can frustrate defenses. </p>
