Who caught our eye at the Chaffin Classic over the weekend?

Kanye Clary 5’11 ‘22 Massanutten Military (VA)

Kanye is a 2-way guard who can fill it up on the offensive end whether it’s scoring-wise or passing. He gets into the lane at will and has an elite floater and soft touch around the paint which opposing teams have trouble guarding. Kanye finishes with both hands and uses fakes to catch bigger defenders. Clary’s shiftiness allows him to get into tight gaps and allude defenders. Defensively Clary uses his quickness to get into passing lanes and keep his man in front defensively.

[player_tooltip player_id="904668" first="Elijah" last="Davis"] 6’1 ‘21 St. Frances (MD)

Davis is a floor general with pace and excels at getting others involved in the game. He does a good job of starting the break. He is very assertive on the defensive end and keeps his opponent in front of him. Elijah plays with toughness. He is vocal on defense and gets around screens easily. Davis has a nice touch around the rim but knows he doesn’t need to score to have an impact on the game. He also showed that he can get passes into tight gaps and moves well without the ball in his hands.

[player_tooltip player_id="902040" first="Trae" last="English"] 5’11 ‘21 Baltimore Poly (MD)

Savvy minded hard-nosed 2-way point guard. English is an acrobat around the rim and finishes well with either hand. Trae doesn’t shy away from contact when attacking downhill. Trae is comfortable scoring the ball in transition. On the defensive end he makes his presence known whenever on the floor and comes up with steals and turns it into offense. He has a nice handle of the play and can change speeds and catch defenders lacking. Trae also rebounds the ball well and always has his head on a swivel.

BJ Francis 5’11 Mt. Zion Prep (MD)

Francis who is a speedster has no off-switch on either end of the floor. He is a floor general who has a great command of the offense. On the defensive end, BJ is not afraid to pick up fullcourt and makes opponents turnover with his ability to pressure the ball. He can turn defense to offense quickly and regularly. BJ also has a great eye and sense of where his teammates are on the floor and get them the ball often. He doesn’t need to score the ball to make his impact on the game felt.

.

Manny Hill 5’10 ‘21 ISA (OH)

Hill has a great sense of where his teammates are and it was common for him to make the unselfish play. Manny’s hustle on both ends of the floor helped ISA keep possessions going and or start new ones. Hill can make plays happen out of the pick and roll. Manny scored the ball from many places on the floor and hit a lot of shots in crucial situations during the games. Manny also blocked a few shots and took a charge over the weekend. He motors downhill through the lane. if you give Manny the baseline on the offensive end he’ll take full advantage of that opportunity.

[player_tooltip player_id="836491" first="Khyrie" last="Staten"] 6’1 ‘21 St. Frances (MD) (Delaware St)

Staten is a natural scorer and showed his ability to score from a variety of spots on the floor. Whether he was attacking the rim or scoring from the perimeter. Staten also got the foul line and converted from there regularly. Khyrie plays an unselfish brand of basketball which allows him to get his teammates involved. Satan’s length helps him on both ends of the floor if he needs to grab/d a rebound to keep an offensive possession alive or to get into a passing lane.
