This week was full of great games that had lots of great players in them. I saw some exciting prospects and look forward to giving you my evaluations each and every Sunday throughout the season. It is time to recap this week and look at what our exciting prospects did.

Bedford North Lawrence: vs Bloomington North 11/24

Ben Cosner – 6’3 2021 W/F: Cosner was arguably the best defender on the floor for BNL this game. Really held his own against the bigger players that Bloomington North had and showed his ability to guard both the wing and the post. Crashed the glass on both ends well also. Offense wasn’t really there in the first half but he nailed back-to-back 3s in the second half to give BNL some momentum. Finished with 8 points and played solid overall.

Kooper Staley – 6’2 2021 SG: Staley really did not have the best of night offensive wise. His offense really just wasn’t clicking overall and part of that had to do with Bloomington North being able to contain him from behind the arc. It was nice to see him be more aggressive taking it to the basket than what he was last season. Underrated part of Staley’ game is his ability to see the floor and find the open man, which he did a few times this game.

[player_tooltip player_id="963945" first="Jackson" last="Miracle"] – 6’5 2021 PF: Miracle is the top post player for BNL like he was last season. Lead the team with 9 points and did an excellent job in going up for rebounds and crashing the boards. Really liked what I saw on defense from him in the post going up against the bigger post players and with his improved shot blocking ability. Just so good at being at the right place on offense and gives his teams good opportunities for post scoring.

Colten Leach – 6’1 2023 G/F: Leach was aggressive right out of the gate in this game. Already is looking to score more than what he was last season. Got to the rim pretty easily last night but needs to work on finishing stronger. Also looks to have put on some legit size which helped him go up stronger for rebounds. Leach is just a tough player all-around and one that scouts showed keep an eye on.

Colton Staggs – 6’1 2023 PG: Staggs is a true lead guard that is never going force anything crazy. Handles and takes care of the ball so well. Not really his role right now to score but he showed at times last season that he can if he needs to. I think Staggs is in for a breakout year as the season continues.

Bloomington North: vs Bedford North Lawrence 11/24

[player_tooltip player_id="783176" first="Isaac" last="Vencel"] – 6’1 2021 SG: Vencel was the best player on the floor this game. Looks to have added some legit size in the arms and upper body was a lot stronger than the past few times I have seen him. He is the type of player that can mix it up inside and out. Ended up with 13 points and was the leading scorer for the game. Big things in store for Vencel’s senior season.

[player_tooltip player_id="868224" first="JaQualon" last="Roberts"] – 6’5 2023 SF: Roberts was by far the most athletic player on the floor in this game. So explosive and had a few monster slams off fastbreaks. Jumper was not really there for the most part however he did run the baseline extremely well. Roberts has a very high ceiling with how good he could be.

Tyree Rochell – 6’1 2022 PG/SG: Rochell is smaller guard that can play both on and off the ball. Very quick and slashes well. Just a very energetic player on both ends of the court. Finished with just 4 points but does look like he has some breakout ability in him.

Zionsville: vs Ben Davis 11/28

[player_tooltip player_id="874161" first="Kyle" last="Reasoner"] – 6’3 2021 SF: Reasoner is a long wing with a lot of toughness and grit to his game. Got to the basket very well and had and1 to prove that. Very aggressive on both ends and matched up well with whoever he guarded. Has a good motor on him and plays with a ton of energy. One of the better parts of his game is his willingness to make the much needed “hustle plays.” Really liked what I saw from him this game and should be a huge factor for the Eagles moving forward.

[player_tooltip player_id="963943" first="Dylan" last="Ritter"] – 6’1 2021 PG: Ritter is a bigger lead guard who is extremely smart and has great court awareness. Played the entire game and never took any plays off on the court. Looks to have added some size in the arms and was a lot more aggressive shooting the ball. Good at creating opportunities for his teammates as well as himself at times. Type of player that you can trust to run an entire offense if need be. Ritter looked really good this game and is on track to take that next step we want him to take.

[player_tooltip player_id="868255" first="Logan" last="Imes"] – 6’2 2023 PG/SG: Imes is a tall guard with a smooth release. Got in foul trouble pretty quickly so didn’t play a ton of minutes early on. Was more aggressive in the second half on the offensive side. Though he is more built as a lead guard, he showed his ability to play off the ball which he might be doing a ton this season. His length helps him on the defensive side as the Ben Davis guard had trouble at times getting around him. Overall, probably was not his best game but he should be a stud for Zionsville moving forward.

[player_tooltip player_id="868244" first="Nicholas" last="Richart"] - 6’8 2023 PF: Richart is a huge player with a lot of size and length. Was real solid posting up and rebounded pretty well on both ends. Was real impressed with his 15ft jumper from the baseline and the free-throw line. Best play of the game was his put-back, one-handed slam over a defender. Did drop a few passes in the post so will need to clean that up moving forward. Overall, it is safe to say that Richart was the best big man on the court this game. Keep an eye on this prospect this season.

Ben Davis: vs Zionsville 11/28

[player_tooltip player_id="529593" first="Jayden" last="Brewer"] – 6’5 2021 SG/SF: Do to the transfer rule, Brewer played JV this game and man did he look like a men amongst boys out there. Got to the basket any time he wanted to and honestly I do not think I even saw him take a jumpshot. Multiple dunks this game and finished strongly with almost every drive. His shot blocking ability is tremendous. Not much else to say other than this Northwestern commit looked as impressive as you might think this game.

[player_tooltip player_id="1049168" first="Jesse" last="Faires"] - 6’6 PF 2023: Faires is a long and athletic power forward. Played mostly inside and showed some solid rebounding ability. Solid vertical and guards the post well with his long frame. He’s the type of player that can do a little bit of everything. Runs the floor well also. There looks to be some potential in Faires so I am interested to see what this season looks like for him.
