GHSA Season Preview: Player Rankings 2022

As the 2020-21 GHSA high school basketball season quickly approaches we will breakdown each classification based on our updated player rankings, highlighting the Top 100.

Class 5A

The drop from 7A and 6A to 5A is stark as only nine juniors find themselves ranked in the Top 100. No. 15 [player_tooltip player_id="870153" first="TJ" last="Grant"] is the 2022 class’ highest ranked player. The 6-foot-6 wing is an exceptional two-way player that led Veterans to their best record in school history a year ago. No. 23 [player_tooltip player_id="1050038" first="Daniel" last="Pounds"] skyrocketed in the rankings and could climb even higher. He is a solid D-I prospect with his size and motor, even his ability to hit the three. No. 36 [player_tooltip player_id="820313" first="Chi" last="Shannon"] has a chance to remind people who he is as he’s back at Chapel Hill and will be a key piece right away for Coach Rodney Latham. Cass could be a Top 10 team in Class 5A behind No. 43 [player_tooltip player_id="870189" first="Zaylan" last="Chaney"]. The 6-foot-6 wing has inside-out talent and has loads of potential. No. 56 [player_tooltip player_id="870187" first="Simeon" last="Cottle"] is undersized but Coach Omari Forts says he’s the second-best player on the team behind Vanderbilt-commit [player_tooltip player_id="869578" first="Peyton" last="Daniels"]. No. 52 [player_tooltip player_id="1043319" first="AJ" last="Barnes"] and No. 68 [player_tooltip player_id="598752" first="Fabian" last="De Silva"] represent Eagle’s Landing. No. 74 [player_tooltip player_id="598786" first="Cristian" last="Willis"] and No. 89 [player_tooltip player_id="1045095" first="Autrey" last="Barnes"] will see increased roles at their respective schools.
